Has liberalism and media bias really gone as far as it seems? After hearing a story like this, you can’t help but to question the logic behind the advocacy for illegal immigrants and the push for amnesty that we just fought so strongly against.
This past weekend, a local St. Paul man was terrorized by an illegal immigrant in his own home. The man, Mark Daggy, had told 18-year old Carlos Noe Rivera-Portillo to stay away from his 16-year old daughter as Carlos was supposedly stalking her and wouldn’t leave her alone. Carlos threatened to kill the man, threw a beer bottle at his house, then got in his truck and repeatedly rammed his fence. This was all caught on tape via a security camera.
What gets interesting about this is that Carlos also goes by two other names. In fact, he was arrested and booked under the name Jose Edgar Mendoza. He is also an illegal immigrant from El Salvador and already has an extensive criminal record… He was also ordered by an immigration judge to leave the country once already, in 2005, and ignored the order and remained in the country.
So, this much aside, there are some other travesties to look at in this case. First off, people like this are allowed to thrive in St. Paul because the mayor has decided to turn the city into a sanctuary city. Second off, the media almost completely ignored this incident. Out of four TV stations and two newspapers, I was only able to find one small mention of the incident on one TV station’s web site along with a short video news clip. Otherwise it was conspicuously absent from the media. Funny, because the incident seems like something that local citizens should be aware of
Again with the conspiracy theories, but it always seems to me that the media jumps all over every story that involves ICE raids or whenever an illegal immigrant has their feelings hurt… But where are they when a local man – an American citizen – is terrorized by an illegal immigrant with an extensive criminal record who should have been deported years ago? They’re just not there. I mean, is it simply that the media is running cover for the liberal agenda, or do they simply not interested in reporting on stories that involve real victims?
I don’t get it. How could anybody have ever considered amnesty for illegals when you see things like this? According to ICE, there are over 630,000 illegal immigrants who are currently living in America in violation of a judge’s order to leave the country due to criminal activity. It’s not like we don’t have our fair share of criminals of our own, now we also have 630,000 illegal immigrant criminals (on top of the fact that they were illegal to start) who have ignored court orders and are still at large.
Amnesty? Advocacy? Immigrant rights? Civil rights? Give me a break. You can’t favor some and not others. That’s how we have gotten into these mess. They’re all illegal. Trying to differentiate between who’s more illegal than others simply results in a stalemate that allows for the situation to fester.
The question is, where do we go from here?
How can we expect illegals to respect the law of the land when they broke the law just to get here? We can’t.
How about pressuring the Mexican government to meet us halfway in controlling their own people? Maybe correcting some complaints down there so people want to stay with their families? We need to take away the incentives for them to move here. On the other side of the boarder there are families who do not want their children coming up here, wives who know their husbands will probably find another wife here. Grandparents who are against their grandchildren breaking the law. It is just too tempting to cross a boarder and make more money. Close the border.
