Why Do They Hate? A challenge to Daily Kos, MoveOn and the rest of the extreme left
I have been pondering this post for a while, as it is something that is rather heated and somewhat shrouded in speculation… However, I have recently felt inspired by Eric’s post over at the Tygrrrr Express and the subsequent comments that followed it, so I decided that it’s now time to address this little bit of ugliness.
I frequently head over to MoveOn, Daily Kos, the Huffington Report et al in order to see what the left is up to and what their rage inspired topic de’jour is. It’s always a trial of patience not to create an account so I can engage these people and try to pick their brains in a woeful attempt to understand where they’re coming from… But I refrain and remind myself that you cannot rationalize hate. You cannot approach somebody who is that full of hate and ask them where they’re coming from and why they’re making such ludicrous statements about America.
So I read and study, and try to apply some of my psychology and sociology schooling as I try to figure out just what is going on out there. The question that I am seeking some insight into is why these people on the left hate the rest of us so much. I say the rest of us because the leftist extremists who so rabidly follow MoveOn and Daily Kos have so polarized themselves against the everyday American citizen that there are few people who don’t fall within the hateful sights of them at least once in a while.
I stand to challenge the leftists out there, and I hope that at least some of them get an opportunity to make it here and read this post. I challenge them to explain where this hatred comes from. Why they feel that any opinion besides theirs is invalid. Why they have so much desire to drag everybody down into their self-destructive altruistic vision America…
My Peanuts cartoon the other day summed things up pretty nicely. If our purpose is to give to everybody else, what is the purpose of everybody else?
This is the hatred that I see. There is a severe altruistic self hatred that is perpetuating amongst the extreme left. These are people who believe that self-sacrifice and a reduced standard of living is a punishment that America must bear because of our succes. Ordinarily I wouldn’t care if there were self-sacrificing people out there, but this hatred is being projected onto the rest of us. We are the subject of scorn and angry rhetoric from these websites because we ask why we should hate ourselves. We are constantly confronted with protests and demonstrations from people who demand that we have to reduce our standard of living and give to everybody who has less than we do because they’re somehow more deserving than we are. And when we stand up for our own rights we fall victim to some of the most virulent hate I have ever seen in this world.
Getting back to Eric’s post, and really the reason behind my post, is comment #6 from Southernvoice. This individual felt the need to justify why the left feels that it’s acceptable for Bush to be compared to Hitler. Can these people really be so blinded by their own hate that they truly do believe this sort of tripe that comes from their own mouthes? I mean, seriously… Despite the best efforts of the left to reduce our freedoms under the guise of socialism, we are still living in the most wonderful country on Earth. Having traveled the globe, I can say that with some degree of certainty too, as there are many nice places to visit, this is the only place I would choose to live.
Yet, the hate spews forth, and reading some of the psychotic ramblings on Daily Kos and others that so vividly berate America does nothing but confuse and irritate me. When you have people like Cindy Sheehan who publicly denounce America with utter venom, you can’t help but to wonder what these people are experiencing that the rest of us aren’t? How can a country that I love so much be perceived as such a hellhole that is so often likened to Nazi Germany by the left? It just doesn’t make sense. But, since when does blind hatred make any sense at all?
So I guess that is what really hits at the heart of the matter. What is driving this hate? What has happened to these people that has caused them to hate not only themselves but the rest of us and their country as well?
What’s worse is that this hatred has invaded their ability to act as rational human beings. I mean, when is the last time one of these leftists has engaged you or I in decent conversation or debate? It’s just not there. Instead it’s one attack after another. It’s name calling. It’s a blind fury of accusations and insults. Every time there is some dissent to their opinions or ideas, we get nothing but furious venom from them. I dream of a day when one of these people will choose to engage me in a healthy debate without immediately turning to name calling and without the absolutely shut-off attitude towards any other opinion. Consider this: How many times have you made an opinion or asked a question without a swift and brutal response from the left aimed at making you look like a wretch of a human being? How many times have you been called a racist, or callous, or a bigot… When all you did was ask a question regarding their self-hating behavior or why they feel you should be exhibiting self-loathing too?
I am not trying to start a fight here, I simply want to know where this blind hate is coming from. I want to know what awful things have happened to these people that have driven them to truly believe that we as Americans (and hence they) are evil and need to induce some sort of self punishment as retribution for the lifestyle we lead. I want to know why they hate themselves so much that they believe that anybody who has ever been more underprivileged in their lives is somehow more deserving than they are (and indirectly the rest of us who are considered “well off”).
Is it really too much to ask for? Is it expecting too much for somebody from Daily Kos or Huffington or Moveon to step forward and explain to the rest of us why we’re subjected to this sort of hatred on a daily basis? Can they explain to us what we have done in our lives that has made us so evil and what our country has done that warrants such angry rhetoric?
I hope that I’m not asking too much. I hope there is still enough humanity left on that side of the political spectrum that somebody can put aside their vicious hatred long enough to be reasonable and engage in a reasonable exchange of thought and opinions. Are you out there?

Good post. I have not seen that post on Tygrrrr Express but have had one experience with southernvoice.
I had a post about the senate moving to ban toy guns, southernvoice’s response:
I think it is a good idea to tax what you wish to get rid of.
Cops have shot people who only had these realistic toy guns. Why not give a kid a camera or a book. why not give a kid a toy that will enhance their learning or broaden their horizons.
Obvously there are several ways to look at this issue rather than the argument that you must either support kids having realistic toy guns or be against it.
I don’t like Congress either but both parties are the same and it is stupid to support one party and not see its mistakes while demoizing the other as though you are talking about sports teams or something. Blind loyality to a party is weak minded. Neither party is saving us but are destroying us. The only interests Congress serves is Corporate and Zionist.
There is just no way to reason with someone like this, but yet we must try.

The first thing I would like to say is that I was actively involved in the debate that all this hateful speech took place in.
I got really pissed. Eric obviously handles these things a lot better than I do.

{ I accidentally hit submit , now I’ll continue }
Eric has sent a request to each of the following, asking them to denounce and condemn this hateful rhetoric,Moveon, Dailykos and the Huffington post.
He has also sent e- mails to Micelle Malkin, Huge Hewitt, rjchq.org and chabat.com, asking them to expose these websites for there anti semetic statements and comparisons of Bush to Hitler.
I would like to ask anyone that feels compeled, to the same.
As far as having a civilized debate with liberals goes, there is at least one website I have found that allows this. http://www.theseminal.com/2007/07/18/impeachment-at-all-costs/#comments
After all, if you are to engage your enemy, you have to know what he is thinking, and for that matter why.
Of course we rarely agree, but at least its civil. And if in one year I can change one mind{ am I expecting too much ?} then all the aggrivation will of been worth it.
I’m proud to say that on mostly all the articles written on this website, I have gotten the last word.

{I think my computer is sick }
Getting the last word with these fellows is nothing to brag about, but it does hone my skills in debating important issues. I,m quite the rooky compared to Tygrrr express and few other admirable sites that I ve come across.
My point is that I love healthy debate. But when it comes down to mindless arrogant hate, we should all step up to the plate and do everything we can. Not only to silence it, but get rid of the source.

Hey Micky, thanks for the info. I’ll check out that website and maybe toss my own hat into the ring
Anyway, on one hand I think we can all learn something from Eric. He seems to have the patience and tolerance of a saint… On the other hand, these days I am finding it more and more difficult to be the “better person.” Conservatives are always told to be the better person and to just roll over and take it, which I think is the wrong way to do it. I have admired Thomas Jefferson and some of the founding fathers for a while now, but only recently really began to study them, and I wonder what they would think about this “better than it” attitude we’re taking these days?
I am quickly reaching the point of standing my ground and ferociously telling it how it is. The only difference between my approach and the left’s approach is that I am not blinded by hate. I am not so wrapped in hate that I cannot deal with opposition. I am always willing to engage in debate and will always at least listen to a dissenting opinion. I also listen to – but blatantly disregard hate speech.
I don’t know if you listen to talk radio at all, but if you’re ever interested in listening to somebody who has hit their boiling point and pulls no punches when dealing with the looney left, check out Jason Lewis (you can find him over in my links and download his podcasts from there). He is one conservative who breaks the mold and isn’t afraid to call a spade a spade. Whereas I like Eric’s approach, I think that taking the high ground is what has gotten us into this mess in the first place. I think it’s time for people like us to politely and respectfully start calling a spade a spade and stand up for what we believe in.

First I would love to thank you for giving my place a read, it really meant a lot.{Ky wife got all teary eyed she was so happy for me}.
I agree with you 100% that the glove’s have to start coming off when dealing with the radical left.
I’ve never had a computer untill 6 months ago. And I’ve got a lot of studying and catching up to do.
I lost my voting rights due some mistakes in my past. So the I figured the best way to make a difference for my country was to go to the opposition and do my best have them see it the ” right ” way.
Eric doesnt like to confront the ” moonbats ” as much as I do. He has told me that he doesnt want to bother with the mindsets that are entrenched, and would rather spend time on the persuadables. And I support him and his ways 100%. Myself on the other hand will approach every single one I can. And if they dont see it my way, thats alright. But it’s about time these hateful shmucks know that we are not going to stand for this kind of conduct. It’s incredibly counter-productive.
