Can I Get some Cheese With That Whine? (aka The Lies Just Keep On Coming Part 2)

slap Just when you thought it was safe to cross the river, the liberal cheeseheads on this side prove once again that they know more about whine than cheese.

Yes, to my glee I have seen the spawning of two new websites here in Wisconsin that are dedicated to giving people the opportunity to whine about their misery and how much they hate the Republicans and why. I would slap each and every one of these people if they whined like this to my face, but since they don’t I’ll have to go at them blog-slap style.

First off, let’s take a peek at the new “Uninsured in Wisconsin” website. According to their press release:

“A new website called Uninsured in Wisconsin was just launched in order to create a voice for those in Wisconsin who are uninsured, underinsured, and experiencing problems with our current health care system.

Offering the opportunity to anyone in the state to post their health care horror stories for all to see (stories may be posted anonymously), the website’s creator, who is uninsured, hopes that these personal accounts will urge the state to adopt legislation creating universal health care.”

Well, this I had to see. After all, any repository for people to go and complain about their lives is worth a few minutes out of my day. Of course, since the site just made its debut, there were only a couple of stories posted, but good god what a bunch of “woe is us” sap. We have the homeless smoker with health problems (how did he get the press release and where is he using a computer?), the small business owner who just can’t take it, the “I can’t afford it because I work entry-level jobs” and the “I have a law degree and work for small non-profits who don’t offer health insurance” sob stories.

A cursory look around the site reveals the usual suspects as well. The Wisconsin AFL-CIO, Citizen Action of WI… The Wisconsin chick that was in “Sicko” because she worked for Humana and wanted to expose them… But on the plus side the site looks nice, and they have an amusing area called “If I…” where you get to tell people “[w]hat you would do differently if you had complete, stand-alone health care coverage at no cost to you,” which made me chuckle a bit since the first entry was “I’d have someone dig the glass out of my foot that has been there for 2 years!” I feel for people with glass in their foot. I really do… But don’t expect me to pay for you to have a doctor remove it. Do you know how much crap I’ve taken out f my feet with a pocket knife or safety pin? Suck it up and stop whining that I should be paying for this crap!

And speaking of crap, the next stop on the whine tour is “Stop the Excuses” which is a repository put together by “One Wisconsin Now” that seems to have answers as to why Wisconsin has yet to pass a budget this year. This site is amusing because it is not only chalk full of lies, it allows other people to post their whiney lies too. The reader lies are amusing and show just how ignorant and whiney the liberals around here really are. However, the real gem is One Wisconsin Now’s nine reasons why the evil Republicans won’t pass the budget bill. Bear with me here, this one deserves some debunking…

1 “Lower health care costs and BadgerCare Plus means lower profits for drug and insurance companies.”
Yeah, pay no mind the cost to the taxpayer. Yet, the concern of the libs here is the evil corporations and their evil profits. Screw the taxpayers, right? This is all about big pharama.

2 “Having ‘Great Schools’ is too boastful. We’ll settle for ‘So-So Schools.’”
Let’s not forget that the Republicans tried to pass the education portion of the budget but the dems, backed by a threat from governor Doyle, said the budget gets passed in its entirety or not at all, refusing to allow even the education portion to go through.

3 “If we don’t keep your property taxes high, you won’t have something to complain about during the holidays.”
Who was it who threatened to raise property taxes as leverage to try and get the budget passed? Oh yeah, it was Doyle and the dems who claimed they would have to do it to fund education… he same education that the Republicans tried to pass (see above).

6 “Why do we need to monitor child sex offenders when ‘To Catch a Predator’ does such a good job of it?”
Since when is public safety a concern of the dems? Once again, as I recall the Republicans tried to pass this part of the budget, but again the dems said “all or nothing.”

8 “Hasn’t Big Tobacco suffered enough?”
Whoa now! Big tobacco? Get real, the proposed cigarette tax hurts the citizens of Wisconsin, not big tobacco. Why would they throw this out there unless they’re just going after the evil big business again? Once again it’s a matter of screwing the taxpayer but doing it behind the guise of punishing big business. I guess honesty isn’t necessary policy when you’re trying to raise taxes, huh?

Anyway, I’ll leave this post with my favorite reader-contributed excuse as to why we don’t have a budget yet. It’s the pinnacle of uninformed, conspiracy theory whine:

From Roger in Madison:
“I’m tired of the excuse that they’re trying to protect the taxpayers. If they wanted to protect the taxpayers, Huebsch and his pals wouldn’t hand so much of our tax dollars over to the rich and powerful. Spare us.”

No Roger, spare me. You think you have it all figured out, huh? Those evil Republicans are redistributing your tax dollars to their evil rich and powerful friends. Damn, I wish I had figured that one out. I guess Roger gets the super sleuth award for this one. Actually, Roger, you won my Contemptible Idiot of the Day award. Lucky You.

dude sounds pretty angry. Although he has a point, there is no real law that requires people to pay taxes. Check out “Wake Up America” and look up his posts on the tax protesters stand-off with the federal marshals. They were operating under this same idea too - that being there is no law requiring them to pay taxes. Of course, the law didn’t look to kindly upon their protest.

However, I have to ask… Without taxes, how will essential government be funded? I may not agree with paying taxes for extraneous government programs (entitlements etc), but essential services like defense, public safety, courts and whatnot still need funding. While I agree that the tax system is way out of control, I disagree that we should be a tax-free nation.

And it just keeps on coming (this is getting to be too easy)…

    Check this out: http://tinyurl.com/yst6qn

Democrat stages sit-in to protest unpassed budget

A Wisconsin lawmaker angry at his colleagues for failing to pass a state budget said he will sit at his desk in the Assembly chamber until they act.

Rep. Tom Nelson, D-Kaukauna, started the sit-in Thursday morning and said he would stay there 24 hours a day, seven days a week until the Assembly and Senate approve a new two-year spending plan, which is more than three months overdue… Sitting in his high-backed leather chair, Nelson said he would spend his time surfing the Internet on his computer and might even start a blog.”

Leave it to the Wisconsin Dems to add more whine to the cheese.

the homeless smoker probably used that commie institution known as the library. a red threat is right under our very noses and right down the street! allowing homeless people to use computers and anyone, regardless of income, to read books without paying for them!

Yea, as usual, the key word is “probably”

Lets try this the other way around.

That smoker with health problems is “probably” sitting in his rich uncles parlor and having his brother pay for his cigarettes while he blogs on a 5,000.00 computer.
And he probably wont stop smoking even though thats what is causing his health problems, probably.
And he certainly is not using the computer to look for work.
How my doin so far ?

Well, really I have no problem with libraries, although it does anger me that cities like St. Paul invest heavily in libraries and then complain that the state isn’t giving them enough money to hire more police. Libraries are a luxury, not a necessity.

But Micky, I think you’re probably closer to the money… Not to mention the fact that you bring up the same point that I was thinking… Regardless of where this guy is using a computer, why is he using it to blog and not find a job? Obviously he has some computer skills, so he’s not a total loss. Why no job then?
