Al Gore Goes Pop (Culture)

4Xjf0Xdc_100x75 Remember a while ago when I asked where Al Gore was? His strange disappearance from the spotlight concerned me, and rightly so. When media junkies like Gore disappear – even for just a short time – it usually means they are up to something… And that’s never good.

Well, I found him… And I’m more concerned than ever.

It would seem that Albert has been working on a “peer to peer news and information network” named “Current” which is on the internet and cable/satellite stations and spreading the word of the Gore-ites right to your living room.

Oh no.

So I decided to pop over to current.com and see what all the hubub was about. So far as I can tell, it’s like a youtube for moonbats and frivolous pop-culture, which wouldn’t be so bad except for the fact that it’s Gore-ite moonbattery (going green in a hummer?) and irresponsible pop-culture (Booty calls, first times and never agains – we want to know about them all) gone mainstream… And that’s never good. When you can flip to satellite channel whatever and watch some Gore prophet yap about world events while sitting down with the family… Houston, we have a problem.

So I decided to poke around a little deeper, and lo-and behold, even Albert himself has a little page set up where he posts his short video clips under the screen name “algore.” Although he currently only has three videos posted, it’s enough to really raise your eyebrows and wonder just what it is that the Goracle is up to. Given Al’s recent history, I would have assumed that he would take the opportunity to push his global warming agenda down our throats some more… Yet, this is not what I found. Instead he takes the opportunity to weigh in on other issues, which I found somewhat concerning.

What Al lacks in focus he makes up for in breadth I guess; since his three video topics of choice are:

Hmmm… It would seem that Albert has been up to more than just environmentalism. I know it may seem silly, and maybe I’m just being paranoid… But given the nightmare that we have had to deal with regarding AL Gore’s pop-culture environmental movement, do we really need him pushing for things like the “right” to health care via his trendy new media outlet?

The hair on the back of my neck is standing up already… Especially when you get people like Michigan Representative John Conyers blogging about Albert’s “Current” statement on health care and saying things like “We need to get the profit out of health care.” Combine that with an email alert I received from CEI today telling me that Conyers and Michael Moore are distributing “SiCKO” to congressional offices, and it’s enough to force the bile to the back of your throat.

We need to keep our eye on Gore… Unlike Michael Moore, Gore has a profound power over the people and culture here. While Moore is generally acknowledged as an unhinged nutball, Gore is looked at as some sort of modern-day messiah who’s words are as good as gold. Do we really want Albert propelling health care “rights” to the same pop-culture status as environmentalism?

I think not.

“Current” has been around for a while now. Several cable companies and satelite providers carry it. Cheezed me off as local TWC replaced News World International (a network featuring several “foreign” news programs, mainly CBC), with it.

I’m sorry but no matter how you or I feel about Gore, this is genius. It says volumes about where our society is headed in all its viral glory. Even at my job we are looking to become more VIRAL. It was bound to happen that a politician was going to do it. How would you feel if your friend Bush did it first? He would surely do it different but still.
This move was a smart one. No matter how lame. He’s thinking ahead. This RSS way of life is our definite future. Whether or not we like it.

Hehe, yeah, no kidding. It’s only a matter of time before Gore figures out a way to beam this crap directly into our heads… After all, he did appear at live earth concerts as a hologram on stage.

As far a Current goes, yeah, I vaguely remember hearing about it a while back now that you mention it, but I dismissed it until I saw a US Congressman cite it, and then it struck me that perhaps this is more dangerous than Gore’s Live Earth flop.

And I agree, it is genius. That doesn’t mean that I like it though. It scares me when anybody gains this much power and influence and is able to promote their opinion as fact and stir up global alarmism. I wouldn’t be any more happy if it were Bush or any other politician unless they were simply using it to disseminate information to the masses – not promote opinions.

Wow, could you be a bigger dick? What is it that you have with taking care of people and the earth? Does that go against your right-wing “religion”? Of course you have no problem shoving THAT down everyone’s throats. Get a life and stop trashing others who HAVE one. And be grateful they’re looking out for you.

    Alot better.

Kath, what the hell is your problem? Could I be a bigger dick? Yeah, probably. Especially since I said nothing regarding taking care of people or the earth. I’m not sure what the “right-wing religion” is that you’re talking about. It really makes no sense. My beef is with Al Gore and his zealot followers (presumably people like you)… I simply ask for an open and honest debate on the topics – which Albert and his loyal band of lunatic followers refuse to give us.

The fact that Al is now promoting other socialist ideas proves the point that he is interested in some sort of collectivist global socialism, which as far as I am concerned completely negates his climate work as nothing more than ruse to push his other agendas.

Kath, WOW! Just because you are sitting at home behind the safety of your computer does not give you the right not to be polite. Your anger is revealing and if I knew you I would tell you to get some help or find a healthy release without stooping to levels that make people think you have something to hide. Try and stay on the subject rather than diverting energy to personal attacks. Sheesh. And yes, Gore is smart. He is also a glutton. For attention and other earthly pleasures. He will take his own damn self down.

    News Flash !
O’Reilly just showed Al Gore equating Gerbil warming deniers to those who still think the world is flat !

Kath, be careful what you ask for.

what’s funny about that is that you can prove that the world is round. It is a FACT. The same cannot be said for global warming, which is a theory, not a fact. At one time the “earth is flat” argument was a theory too, but it was proven false. Gore is not even giving people the option to prove his theory wrong, which is a big mistake if he wants to be taken seriously by anybody but the zealots.
