Convenient Lies in the Pop-Culture Environmental Movement
Maybe it’s the attitude I’ve been dealing with lately. Maybe it’s the media hype. Maybe it’s the fact that my car was frosted over this morning and it made me cranky to deal with the cold weather… Whatever the reason may be, I have felt the need to beat up on Al Gore and the global warming community lately, and today is no exception.
Seriously though, my feelings on cold weather aside, I’ve been stewing over some recent run-ins with the Al Gore/climate change zealots and wondering how they can go through life with their heads up their asses like they are. Maybe it’s easier to navigate life with your head up your ass when the media is nursing you along and validating everything that you feel. I don’t know. Either way, it’s a real mystery.
What really gets me, though, is the incredible willingness of the people to fly off the handle and lose their cool (pun definitely intended) when you challenge them, the media, Al Gore or the environmental movement. I’ll refer you once again to Phesity’s post on Matt Lauer (from NBC) going to the Arctic to show us the “horrors” of global warming first hand and how a couple people jumped to NBC’s defense… You get people who pop up with:
“It seems to me like you can’t see for forest for the trees. Stop killing the messenger. they are reporting on things that are going on in the world. And these things ARE happening.”
To which I will simply say… Get a clue!
The “Al Gore is our messiah” apocalyptic crowd is getting nauseating to say the least. What about this whole thing aren’t they getting? Are they so pugged into the media to recognize the fact that they are being scammed? I mean, here is what one person recently commented on my blog:
“America is not very popular in the world at the moment. And that’s an understatement… With Al Gore the world would be a better place.”
and
“I SO hope Al Gore is gonna win in 2008. The world will be a better place.”
It would? How? What is it about Albert that gets these people so hot and bothered? What is so great about Gore? Is it his apocalyptic view on the environment? Is it his Oscar? His Nobel Peace Prize? His sexy physique?
I mean, let’s look at the icon of the environmental movement for a moment. Let’s look at what he’s promoting (with the media’s help) and what the zombie followers are so viciously defending.
First off, the guy says the debate is over, which should automatically make everybody skeptical. After all, once you shut down debate and refuse to accept alternative opinions to your own, you have to wonder why. I won’t get into it here, as I have already set aside a whole post on the topic, but in short you can’t take somebody seriously when they state their own opinion as fact and shut down debate.
Second off, he is proving to us over and over that he is interested in global collectivism (i.e. socialism on a global scale). Ironically (or maybe not-so), most of the solutions that he proposes to combat so-called climate change are steps that bring us closer to a “global community.” You can’t help but to wonder where his true intentions lie. While I do believe that he is truly passionate about the environment, I can’t help but to ask if it is merely a tool to push a collectivist agenda. Even though Albert claims that that this isn’t about politics, as Marlo Lewis jr. of CEI points out:
“Nothing is more political than the claim to transcend politics, because it implies that anyone who actually represents truth (science) and virtue (morality) deserves to rule.”
But now let’s get to the meat of the issue. What is the truth? Al Gore put out an “earth shattering” documentary that he called “An Inconvenient Truth” which obviously drives you to believe that he’s preaching the truth to the masses. Lump the media promotion on top of that, and it really gets hard to separate truth from fiction. And again, part what complicates this is the fact that Gore and his dedicated followers have shut down debate, so every time anybody raises differing views, they are shut down or accused of working for some other evil entity who’s out to destroy the planet. So what happens when somebody like me pulls out a report (you can see the full report from CEI in PDF format here) that actually cites all sorts of legitimate sources and uses it to rebuff some of these “Truths”?
Let’s see.
I’ll just hit on a couple of hot topics here. For instance, let’s look at the Antarctica issue. Gore, the media and the followers claim that Antarctica is melting away. But just what is the truth?
“Gore gives the impression that all of Antarctica, including the East Antarctic Ice Sheet (EAIS), is losing ice mass. In fact, almost all the ice loss observed by Velicogna and Wahr comes from the smaller West Antarctic ice sheet (WAIS). Gore neglects to mention that the study looked at only three years of data—from mid-2002 to mid-2005…
Two other recent studies—both from 2006—also indicate a positive mass balance in Antarctica. Chen et al. found that, during April 2002 to November 2005, ice mass gains in the EAIS exceeded ice mass losses in the WAIS. Wingham et al. found that, during 1992-2003, mass gains from accumulating snow on the Antarctic Peninsula and within East Antarctica exceeded ice mass loss in West Antarctica.”
But wait, Al Gore, NBC, and the environmental zealots are telling us that Antarctica is melting and that sea levels will rise! Is this just selective reporting, or is it just a conspiracy by other scientists to detract us from the truth?
What about the Kyoto accord that Albert pushes for so passionately? He apparently thinks that taxing carbon emissions will help to reduce them, and he has many people (including some government lackeys) convinced that economic sanctions will help cut carbon emissions. Yet just look at the “effect” of gasoline taxes:
“Consumers pay twice as much for gasoline in some European countries, due to heavy motor fuel taxes. Yet from 1990 to 2004, EU transport sector CO2 emissions increased almost 26 percent and are projected under current policies to be 35 percent above 1990 levels in 2010.”
So is taxation the answer? If so, how high will the prices have to go before people are punished enough to stop buying gasoline? Gore never addresses the economic impact of his environmental push. He misleads people into thinking that if they don’t act now and accept his solutions, the world will burst into flames and we’re all going to die… Yet in the midst of the alarmist claims, people don’t stop to consider the other ramifications
So how do we combat Gore’s “Truth” with the real truth when we can’t even get the mainstream media on our side? I mean, when NBC’s Today Show is going into people’s living rooms and telling them that Antarctica is melting away, how do we then convince those same people that they’re being force-fed a mouthful of lies?
I have been accused of hating the planet and being a “sheep” when it comes to being a climate change skeptic. Yet, that couldn’t be further from the truth! All I ask for is the truth, the real truth. Not an agenda driven truth or an opinion stated as fact. Is it too much to ask for? Wake up and get a clue - this global warming hype is a scam and all of you faithful followers out there are just feeding into it. You want me to out and say it? Fine.
The global warming fiasco is an inconvenient scam!
The sooner you accept this truth the sooner we can move on with our lives.

What bothers me the most out of all the crap they are trying to spoon feed us is this,
Why cant these people just leave us the hell alone ?
Christians believe that you will go to hell if you do not perform accordingly in your life.
But we are not being called out by them on a regular basis and dictated to constantly by a hundred forms of media every day.
The left vehemetly opposes any religious display or references to God in our society. Yet it is o.k. to apply the same practice they detest in the name of Gerbil warming.
Think about the hypocrisy.
They can preach theory and faith to us on one subject that is debatable.
But we cant say God in school ?
And at the same time they are allowed to do what they did to Catherine Mitchell.
“Our earth is getting hotter every minute and the only way we can stop it is to stop burning Styrofoam,” wrote an elementary student named Catherine Mitchell. She went on to say: “I’m also too young to die, might I add, so stop burning the Earth.” (Catherine’s textbooks, you see, had told her that the “thinning ozone layer” and “global warming” were threatening her life. Forget the fact that the greenhouse effect and the so-called ‘hole’ in the ozone have little to do with each other, or that burning Styrofoam has little to do with either one. The important thing to realize is that young Catherine wrote this almost twenty years ago.”

I find it troubling that a politician is the leading voice on this issue. I also find it funny that all the solutions to global warming mean more taxes taken out of my pocket.
How can America be the biggest contributor to global warming when we have the most rigid environmental regulations, wouldn’t a country, such as Mexico, with no or very little environmental policies harm the earth more?

Heres a little more food (not organic) for thought.

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.
Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment.
I do not oppose environmentalism. I do not oppose the political positions of either party. However, Global Warming, ie Climate Change, is not about environmentalism or politics. It is not a religion. It is not something you “believe in.” It is science; the science of meteorology. This is my field of life-long expertise. And I am telling you Global Warming is a non-event, a manufactured crisis and a total scam. I say this knowing you probably won’t believe a me, a mere TV weatherman, challenging a Nobel Prize, Academy Award and Emmy Award winning former Vice President of United States. So be it.
I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.
In time, a decade or two, the outrageous scam will be obvious. As the temperature rises, polar ice cap melting, coastal flooding and super storm pattern all fail to occur as predicted everyone will come to realize we have been duped. The sky is not falling. And, natural cycles and drifts in climate are as much if not more responsible for any climate changes underway. I strongly believe that the next twenty years are equally as likely to see a cooling trend as they are to see a warming trend.

We could just ask a caveman who MAY have been around the last time this planet went through a climate pattern change. It is all part of a great cycle and that we have the arrogance to think that; 1. We can have a serious impact this continually occurring non-event, 2. We SHOULD do anything about it.. This planet will take care of itself. Yes, there are more responsible things to do to make as little impact as possible, but when we start treating this as a religion and refuse to engage in any debate, we elevate it to a level that is simply unhealthy. Bottom line…Does Gore turn the water off when he brushes his teeth? In my experience, the louder they “talk the talk”, the less they “walk the walk”.

Hey, we’ve had some major impacts to this planet that make gerbil warming look like a bug fart.
Volcanos, meteorites that completely anielated everything and here we are.

What’s worrisome is that this has always been a “religion” of sorts to the environmentalists out there. The faith-based “man is killing the planet” environmental movement is nothing new… However, it is only recently that the politicians (people like Al Gore) have seen the power that this pseudo-religion holds over people, and have figured out how to use it to instill fear in the general population.
Is this any different than a “mainstream” religion using the threat of a wrathful god to instill fear and obedience in its followers? I mean, what’s the difference between the Christian belief of going to hell if you don’t do what you are told and the environmentalists belief that the world is going to burn if we don’t do what they tell us?
Even more alarming is the fact that mainstream religion like this has been used many times in the past to influence and control people and governments. Look at France and England several centuries ago. Look at what sort of power the Catholic church has held over nations over the centuries.
Now take that same model and apply it to global warming and the environmental crowd. Are they not doing the same thing? Are they not using their religion to try to exert control over the people and governments of the world?
It’s really scary to think about. America instituted the separation of church and state to prevent a religious takeover of this nation, but the environmental movement seems to have found a back door that they can use to do the exact same thing that a theocracy would do, and get away with it.

If you can teach as science in our schools, you can get away with it.
Ryan,I mentioned the same thing somewhere not too long ago also. Both are theories really, yet one gets a pass over religion. If you watch documentaries that try to explain the miracles in the bible, the similarities are frightning.
My wife fears I wont make it to heaven because I dont swallow alot of the sensational things that have happened in the bible.
Nut whats scary is that at least there are people that say these miracles did take place.
Gerbil warming is on the same level as waiting for the “Mother ship”
I’ll bet their is other life in the univerese, but really, how much do I need to prepare in advance ?
