I was discussing global warming with my cat this morning and came to an unusual revelation. Despite the fact that she sleeps most of the day and acts like she has never eaten every time I walk near her food bowl, she would make a better climatologist than any of the people who attended the UN’s global warming hoedown in Bali… Not to mention the fact that she would be at least twice as honest, which is really saying something considering she is pretty conniving – even for a cat.
I have been keeping a careful watch on the conference over the past two weeks, and can say with some degree of certainty that I have never seen more bullshit before in my life. In fact, this little shindig may rank among the world’s top five greatest scams – right up there with “communism works.”
Let’s look at some of the little nuances…
First off, you had a bunch of morons fly in from around the globe in so many private jets that the little island couldn’t accommodate them all and they had to park elsewhere after dropping off their passengers. Nothing like a little hypocrisy to kick off the party. According to Bloomberg (and Wake Up America), just getting the partygoers to the the conference is equivalent to 20,350 cars driving 12,000Km each. Of course some of the people claimed to be buying some carbon offsets for the event, but the rest of us just aren’t buying it. After all, if planting a couple of trees is all it takes to make living a life of environmental sin ok, the world would certainly be a better place now, wouldn’t it?
But maybe it’s not about environmentalism so much as it’s about money. After all, the stream of headlines that came out of the conference on a daily basis were strangely heavy on the “the developed world must help everybody else” rhetoric. In fact, there was very little question about it. The overarching message from the UN was that it is our responsibility to transfer money and technology to the rest of the world so that they can survive the impending climate change disaster. It was not a message of we should so much as it was a demand that we must.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, one of the less publicized proposals to come out of Bali was that of a “global carbon tax.” This legally binding international tax would levy massive taxes against developed nations and redistribute the money to “countries that are having to deal with climate change.” In other words, the developed world will be pouring money into the developing world through a UN “Robin Hood” mechanism designed to punish the developed world for our “extravagant” lifestyle under the guise of environmentalism. Pretty slick, huh?
And what’s the best way to cover up an insidious plot and get people to blindly go along with you? Guilt. Guilt bolstered through doom and gloom… And Bali offered up the doom prophecies in spades – often with the help of the prophet of doom extraordinare, Albert Gore. But really, how do you say no when the UN chief bellows that mankind faces oblivion if we don’t go along with their plans for salvation? How do you turn away from the “defining challenge of our age?” How do you not feel a little tug in your heart when global warming is called a “human rights issue?”
The UN is pulling out all of the stops when it comes to the bleeding heart rhetoric. And when the bleeding heart act isn’t enough to sway hearts and minds everywhere, the UN pulled out its big gun as Albert landed on the second to the last day and began firing at the United States, speaking as if he was speaking for all of us when he “admitted” that the United States was obstructing climate talks and proceeded to viciously slam his home country to a crowd that included people representing America’s youth who told the crowd that George Bush was not their president; rather Al Gore is. The crowd wet themselves with pleasure at Gore’s scathing words towards the evil United States, proving once again that the talks were much less environmental in nature as they were America hating in nature. Oh, and I think that Albert is still holding a grudge over losing the election.
Sadly, who can possibly stand up to this sort of pressure on the world’s stage and not collapse? While the US stood it’s ground for fourteen days, in “overtime” talks, our delegate, US Under-Secretary of State Paula Dobriansky, caved in to the pressure and agreed to a compromise without even consulting Washington. Her words?
“We will go forward and join consensus.”
We will? We will? I can only imagine how much Gore’s ego swelled when she collapsed and uttered those words. Personally I am furious! Our delegate sat through fourteen days of “the world hates the evil America” banter and was bullied into admitting something that is an all and out lie. We are not part of the consensus. There is no consensus! More and more people are coming out – even members of the all-holy IPCC – and proclaiming that this is a scam, that it is nothing but politics, and that the alarmism is fake. Yet we have now joined the consensus? Excuse me while I cry bullshit here.
While the UN, Al Gore and the media stooges are claiming that we’re doomed and that we may have even gone too far to save ourselves (not to mention the penguins, walruses, polar bears and the Amazon rainforests), others are saying:
- From IBD: [referring to the UN's "oblivion statement] “Not a lot of science in that statement, but it’s just the sort of mystical nonsense that can be expected out of the United Nations.”
- From NOAA and University of Miami scientists: “natural climate variations such as El Niño likely have a larger effect on hurricanes than global warming.”
- From Bjorn Lomborg: [referring to the fact that Al Gore refuses to debate him and the IPCC likens him to Hitler] “It’s true my opponents seem to have won the battle of words, but it seems to me I’ve won the battle of the reality because nations are actually doing very little about climate change.”
- From Lord Monckton (of the IPCC and winner of the Nobel prize along with Gore): “Man is not responsible for global warming and it is also not dangerous.” and from another article: “Even if the Gore/IPCC exaggerations were true, which they are not, the economic cost of trying to mitigate climate change by trying to cut our emissions through carbon trading and other costly market interferences would far outweigh any possible climatic benefit.”
- From Pope Benedict XVI: “It is important for assessments in this regard to be carried out prudently, in dialogue with experts and people of wisdom, uninhibited by ideological pressure to draw hasty conclusions…”
- From Adrian Arp, PH.D: “The biased United Nation’s panel and Al Gore are promoting a lie to scare us into a U.N. global government. The bottom line is that we need to produce more energy, not less… There is no scientific reason to limit CO2 production because it is not causing global warming!”
- From Joseph Farah: [regarding the new Christian call to save the planet] “Nowhere in the Bible does God directly or indirectly warn us of the dangers of carbon dioxide, a natural, non-polluting gas as necessary to life on our planet as oxygen”
Get the idea? This is just from one week of collecting articles on global warming. Yet, none of these articles made headlines. None of them made the front page. Yet Gore, the UN and the Bali fiasco made headlines every single day. last time I checked, science allowed for question and dissent. Science is open to debate. Science is a constant learning process. Politics, on the other hand, especially the politics of envy are always closed off and one-sided. Yet the global warming hoedown in Bali was supposed to be about science? Where was the debate? Where were the skeptics? Where was the other side of the argument? The only sides in Bali were the United States and the people against the United States. Science you say? Bullshit.
So what’s next in this fairy tale? Will the UN and Al Gore tell us up here in the upper Midwest that we’re Hitler-esque liars because we’re blanketed in snow and waking up to sub-zero temperatures when we head to work in the morning and question the whole global warming thing? Will I have to start buying carbon offsets to offset the heat I use to keep the ten-below plus windchill out of my home? I’ll tell you one thing, you can’t blame global warming for both hot and cold temperature. It’s a little too convenient of an excuse and is oozing with dishonesty. Dealing with below-zero temperatures in Wisconsin is normal weather behavior, Al! Snow and ice in December is normal weather in Wisconsin, Al! If climate change is happening, it ain’t heppenin’ here, Al. And last time I checked, we’re part of the planet, so unless you want to claim that global warming is only happening in select areas of the globe, I say you’re full of shit, Al.
I am not part of the consensus. We are not part of the consensus. Screw the UN and Al Gore. Let them hate us. Let them whine about us. Let them trash talk us. They may have bullied our delegate into caving in, they won’t bully the rest of us, right?

They are not going to bully me.
I’m so stinking pissed off about this, Ryan. I’m absolutely livid…and to get this news on the 2004th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party makes it doubly-insulting.
The underdevelped countries that are obviously so overpopulated that we already give millions in aid to them in some form or manner should start euthanizing its population. That is what serious greenies do. And give them all some strap ons made from edible and organic materials. ( they make em for dogs, they’re called “greenies”).
I’m sorry Ryan but I couldnt read the whole post because I too have been keeping an eye on this clusterfuck, and I’m about ready to go postal.
Especially when we said to that obscure little country we were not ready to forego such a massive indulgence on their part, and then later we caved and said we would.
Its like our country is just being looted by fanatics.
And then Al gets up there and in that long drawn out apologistic tone says; “my country, myyyy own countryyyy.”.
God I could feel my food in my throat.
Its Christmas for the world, America is St. Nick.
You hit the nail on the head. This is nothing but a ploy for global redistribution of wealth. You have written about this before, and you are right. I have said that this is a scam to create more tax revenues, but to create international tax streams? I find this to be treading in very dangerous waters. And then you have them using a very powerful tool to accomplish this goal, guilt. After all, nobody wants to destroy the planet, and if you are actually able to guilt them into believing they are, they will do whatever they are told it will take to save the earth.
I also will not be bullied by them, I will not feel guilty for living in the greatest country in the world, and I will not feel guilty for my energy consumption.
As a matter of fact, we just got a foot of snow today, I could use a little global warming right about now.
What’s amazing is that while the US population only increased by 50% since 1970, with a large part of that due to immigration, the world population more than doubled in the same period. Now the Global Warming freaks want to limit our CO2 while letting India, China and others to continue to increase theirs, all in the name of being “fair” and “proportional.”
I’m not going to feel guilty either.
There really is no reason to feel guilty no matter how much that windbag of an ex-vice president might try. The UN and Gore and the liberal shithead followers might resent who we are and how we live, but there is nothing to feel bad about. This is our life! This is how we live. There is nothing wrong with it, and we shouldn’t feel bad because others don’t. We should be proud of who and what we are, and the best way to show pride is to live good lives and take full advantage of what we have.
Micky, I sympathize with you compeltely. It hard to not lose your mind a little bit when faced with this crap. Al Gore makes my blood boil, and this recent little “America sucks” episode of his just made me want to slap him. America created him. He lives in a giant mansion and has enough money to afford anything he wants. He chooses to spend it making his house “green” and jetsetting around the globe bitching and whining about how awful we are and how the planet is doomed. It’s his choice, but a choice that wouldn’t be available to him if it weren’t for America. He’s just a cranky, bitter fuck these days, and he’s going to take it out on us in any way he can.
it just unfortunate that people are such sheep these days. They believe what the media tells them and take it at face value. Who do so few of us actually take time out of our days to look beyond the headlines? It doesn’t take much effort to punch a dozen or more holes in global warming. It takes less than that to establish reasonable doubt in a jury when it comes to crime. Why is it that reasonable doubt doesn’t apply to global warming? We can punch hole after hole and instead of doubt we incite contempt, name calling and angry rhetoric. is the media and pop culture really so omnipotent and powerful, or has guilt really won out on this subject?
What I find interesting in the man-made global warming hoax is how stupid the liberals in Minnesota are. Everytime I hear someone spouting off about this I challenge them. They then shift gears and ask if I care about cutting pollution. When did carbon dioxide become pollution?
They also love to say that the scientits who disagree are being paid off by big oil.
Oh yeah, then who is paying off the scientists who say we are causing global warming? Big Green of course!!
hey Bob, welcome back!
You bring up a great point. It’s interesting how the libs do their best to deflect arguments using any argument they can.. And when they run out of arguments they turn to conspiracy theories. I mean, Al Gore claimed that “25 to 30″ of the 400 scientists who dispute global warming in the latest congressional report are paid off by oil.
Even if that were true, what the hell kind of argument is that? By my count, that would make 6% to 7.5% of the 400, which doesn’t make for a very compelling argument against the scientists’ claims. Yet they still use it as if it’s a reason to snub the entire report as lies.
And you’re right, why would a report funded by a pro-environment, pro-green or pro-government control organization be any more objective or believable than one funded by oil?
I have a great business plan. I need 10,000 cans of CFC producing hair spray. I am going to buy a ton of glacier front property here in Alaska and start spraying the hell out of those cans. As soon as that sucker melts, I will have balmy beach front property worth millions. Anyone interested?
