The Politics of Two Faces

Ok, so two maybe not two faces, but I can’t say that I can recall ever seeing a better mastery of talking out of both sides of the mouth than with our current Congressional breed.

Rhetoric from side A:

“The middle class is getting economically soaked and can hardly get by! We need to do something to help them out.”

Rhetoric from side B:

“The earth might be warming so we need to enact energy legislation; even if that means further soaking the middle class economy.”

Ok, did I miss something here? What’s more important to these morons? The people or the popularity contest? Oh, and don’t kid yourself, the environmental craze is nothing more than a popularity contest right now, as politicians strive to “out-green” one another as they tout how much approval they get from the Sierra Club (although their overall approval rating apparently mean squat).

Bob Lutz, CEO of General Motors, told people yesterday that the new CAFE standards that Congress (and our President, who is not exempt from this idiocracy) decided to force upon us will add another $4,000 to $10,000 to the price of a new car – with the average cost coming in around $6,000. This means that the middle class that is “Scraping by” will now have to scrape even more to afford a new GM car, because this will obviously have no bearing on the “rich” since they already spend more on their cars. So who’s being punished now?

Let’s look at the big picture:

New energy legislation =

  • Increased fuel prices
  • Increased utility prices
  • Increased vehicle prices
  • Increased light bulb prices
  • Increased food prices

Should I go on? So what’s more important to our political leaders? The people they constantly use as ammunition when they’re talking about the evils of our current economy and tax structure, or the Sierra Club and Al Gore?

It just makes no sense whatsoever. I have asked time and again who these people work for since it obviously isn’t us… But good God! This time they have really worked themselves into a corner.

The next time any of our mighty leaders decide to invoke the economic woes of the people, we’re going to have to look them square in the eye and ask them to [truthfully] answer us as to how they live with themselves knowing that they are the single largest contributor to these economic woes… And then they can explain to us why it is that we (the people of this country) are infinitely less important than Al Gore and the climate change popularity contest in their eyes.

I think Penn and Teller said it best when it comes to the environmental hysteria…BULLSHIT!

Whats sad in one way could be great in another way.
I just hope they paint them selves into that corner fast enough for the people to see it soon enough and we can start letting these assholes know that we dont want your green shit. And we want you to shitcan the whole idea
Sometimes you have to fall down to learn. Unfortunatly it will be at the expense of Joe America.
Lets just pray that the process of realization doesnt take too long.
I honestly in my heart believe that within a year we are going to start seeing more and more people wake up to the scam.
I talk to alot of people and about it , and when I’m done mentioning how all the dots are connected they agree.

It seems nowadays that I need a glass a wine after every news update in this whole circus. I’m so tired…Aren’t we all SOOO tired!?

  4. January 14, 2008 at 8:23 pm

Sooo tired doesn’t even begin to describe it. Things are getting out of hand and us poor American citizens are caught in the middle and getting pulled 100 different directions. I need a drink.

Isn’t it funny how these people can claim to be supporting the middle class even as they enact legislation that will hurt the middle class? More people need to wake up and realize what is going on before it is too late. They say one thing and then do another and nobady ever seems to question it.

Arc, apparently no one told you yet, so I will let you in on the memo. People aren’t as important as politicians’ pet causes. It just happen that many Democrats love global warming because it gives them just the excuse they need to increase regulation, increase taxation, and gain more and more control over individuals and businesses while pretending to play the role of the hero.

BTW, isn’t the title to Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” the biggest steaming pile of banality since…well I am not sure there is an equivalent. Indeed, I’ve retitled the book with a much more appropriate heading. Ready for it? How about, “The Paucity of Substance: Building your campaign on cliches.”

This BS even makes the milk I buy at the grocery store more expensive!! The cow’s food costs more since some people are putting it into their gastank now.

Wow, I sound like a mom there. 0_o

    Holly.
Anything connected to corn has gone up.
All dairy and meat. Cereals , dog food.
Even produce because the market has leaned to corn.
Corn sweetners in soda, juice, candy. Baked goods.

I will take a Marguarita please.. I am so fed up with their freaking madness!

Has anybody ever done much for the middle class? The ones that are hard working, trying to make a living, fight in the wars, and do the right thing? I am about ready to P**k!

I did a post on Obama, he is a real sweetheart! Throw up,,gag…
I may do a link to this article if o.k. with you a little later.

Thanks Ryan, even if it does drive me to drink..:)!

We’re fighting an incredibly efficient stupid machine.

Living in New York State, I am bombarded by emails from Democrats that are almost identical. They read as if they were writing to grammar school children. (I know everything. You know nothing. I will help you, vote for me) The same kind of indoctrination our children get in school.

I used to send nice, pleading letters trying to explain my viewpoint and how they could get my vote. What a waste of time. Now if I reply its more like: “What do you think, we’re all stupid? You’re the ones that don’t know anything.”

A few weeks ago I decided to start a web site http://americansforenergy.org/. I would like to post a list of pro growth anti tax politicians. Does anyone know of such a list and where I could find it?
