Irresponsible Politics
Going into Super Tuesday, I hope the voters bear some very important things in mind. I call them irresponsible politics. Others call them hot issues. Call them what you will, but these are the things that stand to do untold damage to this country if left unchecked. Here’s a look at just six hot button topics that the current breed of politician is clueless on:
Irresponsible issue 1: Global Warming
The so-called “solutions” to global warming will do more harm than good, and that’s a fact. For some reason, the old adage of “look before you leap” doesn’t seem to apply here, and we’re leaping right out into the abyss. When inept politicians and media hounds like Al Gore start claiming to know more than climate scientists on the issue, we know we’re in trouble.
Irresponsible issue 2: Economic Stimulus
When did it ever become the government’s job to prevent necessary market corrections? There is only one thing that is certain about the economic markets: they have ups and they have downs. When you try to prevent the downs, you prolong and further agitate the inevitable. The only way to encourage and foster a natural economic upturn would be to improve the business climate in the US by reducing taxation and regulation and allowing the markets to work. The more you put things in a choke-hold, the less likely they are to succeed and grow.
Irresponsible issue 3: Health Care
Socialized medicine doesn’t work, nor does taxing the life out of everything that moves to provide health care for “everybody.” The sooner politicians learn this, the sooner we can move forward with real health care reform (which includes eliminating mandates and cutting excessive regulation).
Irresponsible issue 4: Energy Independence
Sorry, but it’s not going to be achieved by forcing ethanol and other biofuels upon us. If they were at all serious about energy independence and not just using it as a convenient talking point, they would allow us to use our own natural resources and technology. The only reason we are dependent right now is because we’re forced into dependence by our own sick legislators. To taut energy independence the way they are right now is dishonest at best.
Irresponsible issue 5: Spending
The idea that spending out of control is Ok as long as it’s for “the greater good” is one of the most asinine concepts I have ever witnessed. Take, for example, the dems who protest military spending every time one red cent is proposed, but when billions of dollars we don’t have are proposed for entitlement benefits they merrily go along. A balanced budget is necessary regardless of where the spending goes. For a good look at spending in graph form, look here.
Irresponsible issue 6: Taxes
More taxes for the so-called “wealthy” does not equate to a better country nor does it equate to fairness or equality. The current redistribution of wealth mantra is a call for punishment against success and does nothing to encourage a great nation. If anybody wanted to discuss “fair and equal” they would discuss a flat tax system. Any sort of progressive tax - especially a tax that excludes people from paying anything while still giving them benefits - is government Robin Hood syndrome and is completely unacceptable.
The list could go on and on, but I think these six issues portray the scope of problems we are facing right now. Voters need to wise up a bit on the facts and on reality or they’re going to suffer the consequences of their own ignorance come 2008.

The AMA (American Medical Association) has been running commercials supporting a health care plan akin to Hillary’s. I guess they think they can ride the wave of increased receipts for payment, but they are too foolish to see the price controls that will eventually follow.

[...] Do these “professionals” think that this is OK? This is worse than irresponsible politics. [...]

The AMA thinks that they can have their cake and eat it too. Where do these people get such delusions? Do they really think that if government is given such power that everything will be ok?
Thank again.
