State of the Blog Address
Greetings and salutations!
Since this week marks my one-year mark I thought I would take the opportunity to make a State of the Blog address and fill all of you loyal readers in on what’s been going on as of late.
One year. What a time to make a splash! Could we have asked for a more interesting array of subject matter? This year brought us global warming lunacy, immigration follies, crime running amok, the war on smoking, the fall of the GOP, the rise of the American socialist program (aka the Democrat “progressive” movement) and so much more. This past year has been an absolute goldmine for an opinionated bastard of a blogger like me, and this upcoming year doesn’t look as if the surging insanity will be letting up anytime soon.
So the big question is… In the midst of these mad times, where in the hell have I been?!
Yes, you may (or may not) have noticed my conspicuous sparse postings as of late. I do apologize, I am not ignoring any of you and I do feel bad for being MIA these days… This should be coming to an end though, as my day job slows down a bit. Oh yes, I do have a day job. Like any good citizen, I work my ass off so I can make it to tax freedom day and enjoy the fruits of my labor and produce and contribute to this great country. I not only talk the talk but I do indeed walk the walk too. As such, I recently received a promotion to the head of the prototyping and development side of my company and have been headed up an overdue project that fell apart under the previous [lack of] leadership. Hey, who needs a life when you can work oodles of overtime in a high-stress environment? *twitch twitch*
I have also really taken off on the Ban the Ban project (which if you haven’t checked out yet, please do!), having filed articles of incorporation in Wisconsin so we can get nonprofit status and start collecting donations… Between researching data, designing posters and flyers, printing and distributing materials, letter writing, editorial writing, and generally raising a ruckus with the anti-smoking nuts… It’s been much more time consuming than I had ever anticipated. But this is a fight worth fighting, so damnit, I’ll put up with being tired for a while!
But don’t worry, I still have my finger on the pulse of things, and let me sum it up with a picture instead of words:

Yes folks, the state of the Union is nowhere near as upbeat as the State of the Blog as I fear we’re hitching ourselves to the “party” and I don’t think that this party will involve keg stands and making out in some stranger’s parent’s bedroom with somebody who’s name you don’t remember. It’s the kind of party that leaves you penniless and standing in line for bread rations - but not smoking or doing anything that is deemed “bad” for you. Because that would be, well, bad and probably against the rules of your new government health care program.
Be afraid, folks. The coming year will be an interesting one and sadly I fear that things will becoming much worse before they get better.
But hey! Keep your chin up, because so long as we are still allowed the freedom of words and opinion, we still retain a voice with which to fight back against the insanity… And fight we will! For the love of our country, for the love of each other… For the love of those things that we enjoy in our lives…
Stay strong, friends. We’re in for a very bumpy ride.

Congrats on the promotion, and also on your blogging anniversary. It has been an amazing year. We are in for a long battle this year, but we must carry on and continue to fight. This country is going to face many challenges over the next five years, and I feel I am not going to like the direction the country turns to which means it is even more important we keep fighting.Knowing there are people like you out there also carrying our banner makes it easier to carry on. Keep up the great work and good luck with your Ban the Ban project.

I just went through your bantheban site. Great work. I have no idea how you find the time to keep all of this going and still have time to keep up a real life. Congratulations on the 1 year and the promotion.
