…And when I say “pissed” I mean in the British soccer hooligan-style of drinking bitter ale until it sounds like a good idea to go out and start head-butting people while yelling incomprehensible explicatives…
And then marching your bad self to your local media outlet, government office or soapbox and shout out at the top of your lungs that childish name calling is just going to make you more pissed off now.
GO ahead. Call us racist. Bigot. Hate-monger. Homophobe. Sexist. Selfish. Arrogant. Jackass. Fascist. Nazi.
Need I go on?
The names do nothing. They mean nothing. The media and the spineless do-nothing politicians have used words like these to cow us into submission for a long time now. Every time we speak our mind regarding the right thing, we get slapped with names like this faster than we can pull back from the chopping block.
Ever wonder why we have become a populace that is “ruled” instead of “represented?”
I don’t.
We are afraid of the names. I mean, is there any worse crime in this day and age than being a bigot? Or a racist? Or being likened to a Nazi because you don’t sell out to the enviro-wackos?
Of course, these names have no meaning any longer. What is a racist? What is a bigot? These terms get tossed around so flippantly that these days you’re called a racist hate-monger if you don’t vote for the unqualified black man. Go figure, right? Affirmative action apparently works for the oval office too.
It’s a sickness. A sickness that is being spread through guilt and coercion.
There’s no greater evil in this world right now than the drive to make us feel guilty when we demand that the right thing be done or when we show outrage over things that are wrong. We are being forcibly told that our opinions are somehow wrong, invalid or bad.
Ya know what? I, for one, am done with it. I’m done with articles like this one condemning those people who expressed perfectly legitimate outrage over the senseless deaths of four children killed by an illegal immigrant who had previously been caught and released… Bear in mind while you read this, the author is a prominent local columnist in the local news section, not the editorial pages. Not the opinion pages. This is “news.”
Let me break down some of the worst elements of this article:
“It also has brought out the worst: Anger, bigotry and politically-charged complaints about immigrants, the vast majority of whom are here legally.”
At no time has the anger been directed towards legal immigrants. In fact, the issue stems exclusively from the fact that the killer was an illegal who was doing something she had previously been arrested for before… And released. But note he tactlessly uses the word “bigotry” in this line. Do you feel like an ass yet?
“But at a time like this — when anger is tinged with racism and resentment in a season of charged political debate — it is important to think carefully about what measures might help public safety, and what might hurt it.”
Again, this windbag apologist carefully works the term “racism” into the rhetoric – as if race has anything to do with this. Need I remind the reader that the issue at hand here is illegal immigrant? He is trying to associate racism with being critical of illegal immigrants. In other words. You should feel guilty for it. It’s bad. It’s racist.
“The trip from rage to lynch mob mentality can be short.”
So we were accused of racism, which was nasty, but now he has made a subtle reference intended to twist that knife and make us really feel guilty. After all, who in the hell wants to be associated with being a racist – especially when the words lynch and mob are floating around the ether? It’s bad juju.
The next part must be copied in its entirety, because he shifts the entire story away from the illegal to how we are bad peole for what we’re doing to illegals… It’s absurd. And somewhat surreal.
“What would be a better response to this tragedy?
What if we raid the businesses who employ illegal immigrants, rip the workers away from their families, and deport them?
Oops. We’re already doing that: About 200,000 were arrested and deported in 2006, including several hundred employed at a Swift & Co., packing plant in Worthington, Minn., not far from Cottonwood. There are millions of undocumented workers here. If you want to round them up and deport them all, you’ll need barbed wire and jackboots.”
Not only has the guilt been shifted, but there’s the infamous Nazi reference. Damn he’s good. He worked it in there so slyly that the less critical would feel bad before they even knew why. But you know what? Here’s what I say. If we can’t deport them and it’s not logistically feasible to round them up, then let’s try another Nazi trick. Let’s make them wear yellow taco badges so we can identify them and give them the finger or just thank them for suckling up our tax dollars and not having enough pride to suck it up and become an American citizen the right way. Want to call me Nazi? Fine, but I’m going to give you a reason to do it. Calling me a Nazi so you can shift the guilt from a senseless crime won’t fly with me.
“Plenty of American-born drivers, without licenses, kill people. “
So the answer, apparently, is to just shrug it off when the already present threat is multiplied by the addition of more people. Does this make sense? Now we have to contend with bad American drivers and bad illegal immigrant drivers, and somehow that justifies it? Is he high?
And then there is the stunning finale. A last jab at us “bad” people for expressing anger over something that could have been largely avoidable; a reaction to a horrible tragedy that is wholly justifiable in the wake of the facts surrounding the incident…
“Lynch mob wannabees have a much simpler solution to the problem of illegal drivers.
Simple is how hate works.”
He leaves a question hanging, tactfully unanswered.
What is the simple solution? He doesn’t say. He works it into hate. But we can assume that hate+lynch mob = bad solutions. He says little but inspires a terrible feeling in the unsuspecting. After all, who could be these violent wannabe simpletons be? Certainly not me. I would never!
And then you clam up. You stop being critical. You stop being outraged. You sock it all away, because you could never be that bigoted racist hate mongering Nazi simpleton with the wannabe lynch mob mentality…
You have just been cowed. Welcome to a new world of submission.
For the same story from a different angle, check out Joey’s take on it…

And another editor that deserves to get suspended or looking for a new job. How did they let the article go to print?
Best answer for the masses – drop your subscription.
I’ve read in placed that papers like this or the New York Times should be used for fish wrap or for lining a bird cage.
1) I wouldn’t want that ink being ingested by a bird or in contact with potential food.
2) That means you still bought the paper and helped their profit margin. If you really need the paper, get a ream of it before there is ink on it.
But the term cowed does strike up a mental picture. A batch of people chewing their cuds oblivious to the world around them until they get delivered to the slaughter house.
I am sooooooooooo with you on this one…and yes I feel your wrath and trust me..it is justified!
Send the author of the article to East L.A. for a month..let’s see if the sentiments remain the same…happy gangbanging there, Sparky.
what a doof…
Based on these comments, the news reporter was correct: Simple IS how hate works.
I applaud you for being honest enough to admit you’re a Nazi; although I abhor everything you stand for.
First off, I’m just as angry about this incident as everyone else. This idiot (illegal immigrant) should fry for this…after due process of course.
Name calling goes on on both sides Ryan. I’ve seen it from you and from the people you debate with. I’ve seen it from your supporters. Hell, though I try to refrain, I’ve been known to throw some names out. Personally, I believe as soon as you start the name calling and swearing you might as well throw in the towel…you’ve lost. It’s very difficult sometimes to control but that control is what makes us thoughtful. We lose that control, we lose the right to be heard.
This columnist, in my opinion, has lost the right to be heard. He’s lost the argument and lost control. The same could be said for all the haters out there too. You have to admit there are some crazies out there calling for blood that really don’t represent you or I.
In the face of a tragedy such as this when innocent children are killed it’s VERY difficult to keep the hate in-check. I, myself, was extremely angry at what happened. I live in an area of Minneapolis that sees this sort of thing all the time and no matter who gets killed it always makes me angry. I’ve said time and again that if I dont’ find a way to get out of here it’s not me that will be killed but me hurting someone else. But, I have to take a deep breath and move through it as much as I would just like to bulldoze the place (that’s coming from you Ryan).
Stop the name calling, regain control and win.
Goddamnit now I’m pissed,,, THANKS!
Sparrow, good luck with your self hating liberalism…
No submissive cow here my friend.
I went through something similar to this yesterday.
I was criticizing Hillary from the opinion that her unpopularity with mostly was due to her past scandals, unabilty to address issues, her cold demeanor, casting blame on everything from moderaters to the media.
I said that if she wanted to play with the big boys then she should shut up and play.
All of a sudden my opponent in this debate said that I was a misogynist. I hate girls.
Thats what the left does right ?. They have to use some excuse other than the fact that the person themselves on their own merit is a failure.
Just like how you mention that we are labeled racist because we wont vote for an unqualified black man.
And these fucking idiots cant seem to figure out why race or bigotry can never get put on the back burner, and is an issue in our society that just never seems to go away.
Where do you come up with this notion that Obama is somehow “unqualified”?
All I have to say is spawn, your a poopy head!
(damn, I think I just lost the argument)
True sparrow, qualifications are in the eye of the beholder.
If you want a president who doesnt know anything about foreign policy or cant explain how hes going to do or pay for half the things hes promised, then hes qualified.
If you want a president who wont talk about his radical muslim family in Kenya, hes your man.
If you think hes qualified to run this country then you are obviously not too demanding a person.
Oh and then theres that 850 billion dollars that the UN is supposedly going to force America to give the world that has Obamas name all over it.
Theres alot more that disqualifies him than qualifies hiw. Bombing Pakistan and hugging our enemies was one of the first signs that this guy is clueless
The author of the article is like many people of the pro amnesty ilk. When you don’t have a leg to stand on the best thing to do is throw out a name. This diverts attention from reality and let’s you work up your agenda. All in all the lies told by the lefties is to be applauded. It’s always great when a bankrupt concept like PC/multiculturalism gets propped up with lies.
AMEN Ryan!
We had an intense discussion about this very issue at all day yesterday on No Compromises under Bill Cunningham, You’re my Hero! I’m sick and tired of being called these names when I voice my opinion! These types of names only purpose is to shut one down, to guilt trip them, and to harm their good names.
Their other tactic is to claim the conservative never uses facts when in fact we use facts all the time. I guess they can’t tell the diff. between a fact and their opinion!
It’s time for ALL conservatives to confront any one every time damn time they do this crap! My suggestion is start do an in depth study on Post Modernism and you will see why they speak they way they do!
Thanks!
Sparrow, Obama IS unqualified. Now according to your logic, I am a racist. Ryan wasn’t admitting he was a nazi as you said he was. He simply was inferring that you could call him one because your words no longer matter, they are meaningless because of how liberally (pardon the pun)that these words are thrown out there. He was merely saying that if I say Obama is unqualified, instead of you making an argument as to why he IS qualified, the left simply calls me a rasist, thereby rendering the term meaningless.
Where do we get the idea that Obama is unqualified? Is that a trick question?
Do this: Every time Obama says “Change” or “Hope”, substitute it for “free stuff”. He makes a lot more sense that way.
Change…Can you spare some?
Sparrow, I find your comments amusing simply because they so vividly prove my point.
People like you just don’t get it. Did you read a damn thing I wrote? To come at us in this manner just makes things worse and the funny thing is that people like you</em? propagate the ill feelings while blaming us for it.
Ironic, isn’t it? That the real hate mongers out there are the very same people who pass it off to the rest of us. What are you trying to cover up?
All we want is to be able to speak our mind, tell the truth, demand justice and demand that our government does the basic job that government is charged with… All without having to be harassed and called vicious names by people who seek to make us feel bad or guilty for expressing our feelings on so-called “taboo” issues.
Spawn, you’re right, we are guilty of name calling… But usually people like us revert to name calling because we’re jackasses
Seriously though, the name calling is different and it’s really hard to lump them together. Their name calling is meant to disparage people, make them feel guilty or dirty, or give others an excuse to dismiss people’s opinions. It’s a dirty game that I try to stay above (for the most part).
LOL, Ryan.
But when is name calling, in this sense, ever not meant to make the other feel guilty or dirty?
Who, exactly, are the “you,” “us,” and “we” that you refer to repeatedly in this post? Law abiding citizens? Nationalists? U.S. citizens? or just white people who agree with you?
I get the feeling from the rest of the rant (as well as the comments) that, unfortunately, it is simply and exclusively the latter.
tommy, at what point did anything here sound racist or imply that this was only a bunch of angry white people?
As always, the question hangs as to how issues with illegal immigration get skewed into ones of racism (which you don’t outright say but can easily be inferred from your comment)? There is nothing racist here. There is nothing to imply racism. There is nothing to imply white nationalism.
When I refer to “we” or “us” I refer to the scores of people who are sick and tired of being beat over the head by people like you who make the wild assumption that any expression of outrage or anger regarding illegal immigration issues makes us racist bigots.
I’ll give you a clue, buddy… You couldn’t be more wrong. We are simply people who demand respect for the law and expect that people will do the right thing. Illegal immigration, identity theft, driving without a license, criminal vehicular homicide, criminal vehicular operation… Do these sound like the actions that we should condone simply so we don’t risk offending people who can’t see past the “woe is us” mentality?
Give it a rest, pal. You just don’t get it. If you want to live in your soft, warm world where everybody gets along and there aren’t any borders or laws for people to break, then go live in it and leave the rest of the work to the rest of us. It’s not easy to keep the wheels on this bus, and if people like me stop putting forth the effort to maintain what we have this bus is going to go crashing off the cliff… And that’s not something that even somebody like you would want to deal with.
Hey pal, I’m just callin’ it like I see it. I happen to agree with the majority of your point, but it’s the tone of it that I find absolutely disgusting:
“…let’s try another nazi trick. Let’s make them wear yellow taco badges so we can identify them and give them the finger”
“Calling me a Nazi so you can shift the guilt from a senseless crime won’t fly with me.”
You can’t simultaneously play the victim and victimize a group of people. Just my opinion.
There have been people like you around for as long as there have been immigrants. You ever see one of those “No Irish Need Apply” signs? Those were commonplace my friend. It was wrong back then, and it is still wrong today,to point at a group of people and say, “you are not welcome in the U.S.”
Yes we need to protect and secure our borders, but not from fear of our hardworking friends from the south, but from fear of all that could be coming in from the north. Security along the Canadian border is, by and large, a joke.
P.S. I’m a smoker. Good luck with Banning the Ban.
tommypaine you do the same thing as the author of the linked article.
How is enforcing the law “victimizing a group of people ? On a pure noun basis yes criminals are people but criminals are not victims of proper law enforcement.
Every wave of immigrants have suffered bigotry;however, you are missing out on the point that the current focus here is on the illegal immigrants, criminal aliens ! Contrary to your view of
Throughout history there has been restrictions, quotas etc. Yes indeed criminals should NOT be welcomed in the country. There is a gate and series of procedures for people to legally enter America. America is strengthened by the coming of diverse people committed to adding to the whole.
Oh, Camel…it’s “YOU ARE or YOU’RE a poopy head” not “your a poopy head”…and it’s Mister poopy head to you!
OK in2thefray, let me break down my point for you. Diatribes like this one do nothing. Deporting all of the people who are here illegally is impossible. Yes, impossible. Furthermore, by spouting useless hate, it actually takes away from the legitimate point that this post makes, and by making disgusting sensational suggestions like “taco badges,” the author of this post loses any credibility he might have had.
–Border security must be taken care of first.
–Only then can we move on to developing a system for people to go through to get citizenship; fines, community service, whatever, it makes no difference.
–Some sort of worker program will also be required because we all know how many politicians are in the pocket of big business and we also know how much big business likes cheap labor.
One day in the future, the majority of the millions of people you choose to denegrate WILL be U.S. citizens, and will that change them fundamentally? No, they will still be the same honest, hardworking people who only came to this country in the first place for a better life.
I hope you figure out that blind hate is not constructive.
I don’t agree with this writer. Of course, you have read my crap and my opinions so you know I don’t, but I will agree a little with the person who thought your comment about the taco badges was a little much. I know anger. I know it so well. But that was a little surprising even though I know you were being a little facetious. I know what it feels like to not be listened to. It’s completely annoying. It’s beyond annoying. It sticks in your craw and you want to slay the next person who taps you on the shoulder—or shoves it. Again, as I stated in another post today, March 4 has made me a little batty so if this doesn’t make sense, forgive.
I just think there is another way to move your fight to a higher ground. Don’t you?
Ok, to be fair I was a little out of line with that particular facitious statement; however I was simply trying to get a point across that the whole thing has exceeded absurdity.
Do I think we should do such a thing? No, of course not. However, when we make any sort of statements – no matter how benign in nature – we are still called fascists, racists, bigots , Nazis etc. The author of the original article proved my point entirely, which is throughly depressing.
By making the statement I did, all I was intending to do was say that we could easily give them reasons to make such wild and offensive accusations… But we don’t. We haven’t. we won’t.
As many of you know – especially you, Jenice, who I would date in a New York minute if I were anywhere near Texas
– this is not a race issue and it never was. To make any insinuations that this has anything to do with being white, nationalism, pride etc will do nothing but push me off the deep and and really get me pissy.
As I stated before, I only ask that people obey the law and that the government that is charged with upholding that law to do its job. Illegal immigration is just that. Illegal. Can we round them all up and ship them off? No, of course not. But the second that one is pinched breaking another law, there should be zero hesitation in giving them the boot. It should be treated like the seatbelt laws. A cop can’t pull you over for not wearing your seatbelt, but if you’re not wearing your seatbelt and you’re tagged for another violation, you will be hit for not wearing your seatbelt too.
There should be no turning of blind eyes to the issue just because it’s not popular. Should we be raiding? It depends. If there’s good reason to, then yes, most certainly. There are any number of violations that are more severe than illegal immigration that many of these people commit. Things like identity theft, tax evasion, tax fraud… So now you have an illegal immigrant who is committing a “real” crime and has grounds for deportation. This mentality should apply ten-fold for more severe crimes (i.e. violent crimes).
Illegal immigrant status should be a punishment multiplier. When somebody is busted for something and they are illegal, then something should be done. We have enough problems with crime as it is without having to worry about people who aren’t even legitimate citizens out there committing crimes. If there’s a problem, address it and eliminate it. Why is that so hard for people to grasp without casting the spears of “hate” and “racism” and “bigotry?”
tommypaine Strictly speaking your wrong.Google General Swing. Although spouting hate is less than constructive so is defeatist or worse enabling behavior. As for the “cheap labor ” line. I amazes me how the pseudo humanists that are for amnesty and or against border enforcement are somehow cool with turning a blind eye to slavery.I’ll pay 2+ bucks for a head of lettuce to assure the decency of our nation.I haven’t denigrated anyone here. To call a criminal a criminal and then be called unjust just illustrates you have blind hate and are continuing to spin just like the linked article authors.
One more time in2thefray.
Call an opinion that’s based in reality “defeatist” if you want, but everything that I stated in my previous post is true: deportation is an impossible solution, border security is a prerequisite for any other action, and the reason that nothing has been done during this current administration is the link between government and big business and the FACT that big business loves cheap labor (notice I didn’t lay any partisan blame there, all of Washington seems to be part of the problem).
I never said it was a good situation that I was happy about, but I also don’t waste my time getting angry and offering no realistic solutions.
Furthermore, I never said that it was racist to call a criminal a criminal. I took issue with a single statement from this post that, in my opinion, takes away from it’s legitimate argument, namely, the line I’ve mentioned before about “taco badges.” You can continue ignoring my main point and trying to pick a fight if you want, but I will not be baited into it no matter how many references to my “blind hate” you make. I love everyone, even you, just like the Good Lord wants us to.
And as a parting shot:
“I[t] amazes me how the pseudo humanists that are for amnesty and or against border enforcement are somehow cool with turning a blind eye to slavery.”
I’m sorry if the reference to big business and government was too subtle for you. If you’ll refer to my last comment you can clearly see that I’m neither for amnesty, nor am I against border security.
“Whatever you did for the least of My brothers and sisters, you did for Me.” Matthew 25:40
I am going to just add a few points if I may. I thought it was interesting this past weekend when I read an article in the local news about Oklahoma’s new law. They have increased punishment for illegal immigrants and increased enforcement. As a result, tens of thousands of illegals have fled the state. No one deported them, they just left. Now the states surrounding Oklahoma are seeing a rise in illegal immigration. Interestingly enough, they are looking at emulating Oklahoma’s new law to achieve the same or similar results.
You are right, we could never round up all illegals and ship them off. Nor should we, that would be a colossal waste of money, time, and resources. Just by enforcing the laws we have on the books and making things more difficult for anyone who is here illegally, regardless of race, will cause a natural attrition nation wide.
My second point, which I will assume will be more controversial, is this inane argument of cheap labor. I honestly think the answer to that is two fold. The first argument is against the Labor Unions which I won’t get into. It has been aired out enough already. The second side of it is the child labor laws. When I was young, I could go work in the potato field (in Wasilla Spawn) for a couple of bucks an hour if I wanted too. Right now, my son who is 16 can not get a job in Alaska in construction because it is against the law for someone under 18 to use a power tool and get paid for it. (then they complain that no one is interested in the industry anymore….go figure)
If anyone regardless of age wanted to go out and learn a trade or feel pride in accomplishment at a young age, they should be allowed to. If we laxed the labor laws and allowed these kids to take up these low entry jobs for part time or summer work, we wouldn’t have this asinine argument of allowing illegal immigrants to do it.
Furthermore, this idea of minimum wage gives us a false economy, drives up prices, and creates pay scales that are outside what the market demands. Every time minimum wage goes up, my pay goes down. Then the law abiding citizen decides its not “fair” for them to work for a few bucks an hour and all of the sudden we have a “demand” for illegal immigrant workers because they are not following the law already, so why should they care?
Well, that my two cents for now. Cant wait for the response.
Here’s an easy article to see deportation and enforcement isn’t impossible.www.csmonitor.com/2006/0706/p09s01-coop.html
Second @ Tommy you say you’re not pro amnesty but you say this “
Unless you’re John McCain and you want to call it a banana that is amnesty. Also at no time was I trying to pick a fight with you.Although Ryan apologized for the taco badge remark that being your main issue I’ll say this. He illustrated something truly offensive and worthy of the Nazi label. Much like the pro amnesty anti Americans constant use of “jack boot”. Historically and image wise these are of the same stripe.
The enforcement of any crime in any specific area has the effect of “moving” the problem. The need is to enforce the law everywhere. End sanctuary cities and all the rhetoric that encourages people to endure the illegal lifestyle.Discouraging the act of illegally entering the US one actually saves lives and shows more love for their fellow humans.
Minimum wage labor is pretty low and has as a rule teens and seniors as the receivers of it.I never worked for min. wage in my life so I can’t relate.Getting the youth interested in the trades is as much an issue of the education system.Child labor laws were finally passed in America to curb adult male unemployment.I dare say outside of the agricultural and hospitality sectors illegals get paid more than min wage. The bonanza for employers is cutting corners on benefits, tax payments and insurance points.Illegals are for the most part hard working and dedicated to showing up to the job. They are the ultimate under the table worker.
You can’t call it amnesty unless there are no repercussions. Fines and/or community service are repercussions.
Peace!
Oh. Damn…I was going to say something profound but I’m too busy blushing…
