That thorn in my side
Doing some housekeeping
I am trying to get things put back togther as far as the blogging thing goes, and I have to say that I find some of the past year very funny.
Part of my housecleaning is dusting off some of the older posts and comments and trying to get a feel for what’s been going on and what burned me out so badly. While I have already ventured down the “my party left me behind” road and come to terms with that, I have to say that the number one burnout factor has got to be global warming.
Looking back, I get a good larf out of it. The pure lunacy of the people I (we) deal with on this issue is staggering. I mean, these people are either the worst sort of brain-dead sheep or they’re living on Venus. Either way, the number of times I could find where somebody called me out and told me to “look around, global warming is happening!!” or “people like you need to wake up, global warming is happening and it’s already too late!!” is unreal.
These people spoke with such heartfelt passion that it almost made you forget that their heads were so far up their asses that the only “warming” they knew was their own sense of self satisfaction as it warmed their little bellies.
What’s really interesting is how this merry little band of idiots is now struggling to come up with excuses to justify the fact that their definitive knowledge of climate and weather patterns has proven to be wrong. Notice how quiet they were all winter? Or are we just concerned about seasonal global warming? The rest of us might call that spring and summer, since yes, in fact things to warm up during those seasons and technically I guess you could call it global warming…
But seriously, with the exception of Al Gore who’s more concerned about building his monetary empire than actual environmental issues or science, we really haven’t heard any of the alarmist bullshit for months. Where did they go? These same people were the ones who were jumpig up and down every single day claiming that the sky was falling and the only way to save ourselves is to give Al Gore our money… Gee, I wonder if they feel smart now.
Is it possible that the hoax is coming full circle and the people who knew that they were right and we were nothing more than nasty liars in the same light as holocaust deniers are the ones who look like the idiots? I would hate to be the last one holding the bag on the global warming thing. When all is said and done and all the money wasted to line the pockets of Albert and all of his little friends under the guise of saving us from ourselves is tallied up… Somebody or some people are going to look like real fools.
Mark my words. Eventually people will catch on to the fact that weather and climate fluctuations do not signal global warming (i.e. cooling does not equal warming no matter how many pathological liars say it does).
But for all those who still don’t get it, don’t worry, I’m still selling my cooling offsets. For just $5, I’ll go into my freezer, grab an ice cube and put it out in my back yard to offset the warming. Just think, for just $5 you can feel better about yourself and your evil lifestyle.
And for those who do get it, I’m selling positive carbon offsets. So for just the price of one gallon of gas (at market rate, of course) you can increase your carbon footprint helping me run it through my ‘47 Plymouth with it’s uncatalyzed dual exhaust.
Think about it! I offer the best of both worlds. And who says I’m not equal opportunity?

Funny, I live in buffalo and the last couple of winters have been real mild. We had a hard time dropping below freezing this last January. Of course local climate patterns mean little since it is called global climate change.
I am curious what science related degrees you hold and what scientific research of your own that you have done on the issue of global warming that gives you a definitive knowledge of climate change? I tend to listen myself to the majority of scientists and world scientific organizations who seem to think global warming is a problem and at least partly man made.
I can’t understand why some people get their panties in a knot about looking into changing climate patterns and possible problems. If we are wrong and ignore global warming bad things will happen but if we try to do something about it and are wrong we just end up with a cleaner environment. I don’t see the harm in doing research and taking steps now to correct a possible looming problem.

Don’t take this the wrong way or anything, but open your eyes, bub. You don’t need a science degree to see what’s going on; just a little common sense.
The same scientists that you talk about can’t even tell me what the weather will do this afternoon. Why would anybody believe them when they say what will happen tomorrow, next year or 100 years out?
Globally, we have been below average this past year and the so called “rise” has been stagnant for a number of years now. These aren’t assumptions, predictions or theory. These are facts. If we use the global warming standard, this would mean we should start raising alarm about the possibility of global cooling.
And you’re very wrong about no harm being done. The economic and social harm being done in the name of “stopping global warming” is out of control. If the so-called “cures” (i.e. snake oil charms) to global warming weren’t all about making people sacrifice their happiness, money and prosperity, I would be more apt to go along with what you say. However, that just isn’t the case, is it?

Ryan,
I wish I could you send you the pictures I took of the freakin’ winter we had. We had more snow in this state than I have seen in my entire life of all the winters COMBINED. In my area, we had five and a half feet of snow which we never had before.
It was scary because the snow that fell off the roof was kissing the snow that was on the ground and that snow was smashed up against the windows which we couldn’t see out of for almost a month!
The snow was curling off the roof in two feet thick ribbons. I’ll have to send you those pics!
Global warming is another gub’ment socialist trick to control you and me, steal our money, and force us to behave in ways that’s WILL NOT HELP a damn thing except to give more power to the control freaks.
It’s amazing how they have to lie their ugly heads off to gain power! If their ideas were so great then why lie?
I can’t wait until exactly nine years from now when we can all laugh our butts off at al-Gore when Florida will not have lost one inch of soil due to the seas growing deeper around it!
Ryan said,

NC, if you do happen to get the pics, please do send! I would love to see them.
But I agree, I’m still sitting on a massive scary heating bill due to the fact that we went weeks on end for several stretches where we were well below zero here. There were morning that I left for work and it was 30-40 below zero. It was the coldest winter overall we’ve had in a long time… And our spring is behind “average” and only now are we starting to see out first buds on the trees.
Where’s the warming that was supposed to give us early springs and no snow??

Ryan…
“Don’t take this the wrong way or anything, but open your eyes, bub. You don’t need a science degree to see what’s going on; just a little common sense.”
What am I supposed to be seeing exactly again? Still does not explain why the people who do have the science degrees seem to think there is something to this global warming thing.
“The same scientists that you talk about can’t even tell me what the weather will do this afternoon. Why would anybody believe them when they say what will happen tomorrow, next year or 100 years out?”
Silly me, we should just ignore those crazy scientists. I guess you don’t understand predicting tomorrow’s weather is not the same thing as predicting long term climate changes. Hint… It is harder to predict tomorrow’s weather (something specific) then forecast climate trends that will happen over the next ten years (something more general).
Next thing you will say they are wrong about is that evolution thing. Oh sorry the new term is what now? Oh, ‘Darwinism’ …
“The economic and social harm being done in the name of “stopping global warming” is out of control.”
You are just making shit up now. economic harm? social harm? Waiting to see this headline… “Teen kills parents because he couldn’t take any more of this global warming talk anymore.” LOL
No Compromises…
Thanks for the long comment about how much snow you got last year. Since global warming has to do with temperature changes not sure how that was relevant since it is possible to have a warmer winter but have more snow.
Like I said in Buffalo here we have had warmer summers and shorter winters and less snow over the last couple of years. Lowest gas bills this last winter ever. Go figure in Buffalo…
Of course once again we are talking about GLOBAL warming and it is possible some spots may have been colder last winter. We all know world wide temperatures have been rising for a while now. That is what we call a fact. F-A-C-T
“Global warming is another gub’ment socialist trick to control you and me, steal our money, and force us to behave in ways that’s WILL NOT HELP a damn thing except to give more power to the control freaks.”
Could you explain that nonsense sentence please? You pretty much once again proven you are lunatic by your own words. Socialist trick! All terrorists are Muslims! What dumb ass thing will you say next?
Neither of you guys seem to understand the difference between a short term trend and long term trends and changes since both of you are talking about last winter.

Sadly it would seem that you are the one that is delusional my friend.
First off, there are just as many scientists who say that the sky isn’t falling. Why do you only believe the ones who do? Personally I look at all sides and have decided that the ones who say the sky is falling are full of shit because they’re simply looking to be the next media darling.
Second, you speak of facts, but the only F-A-C-T you have proven is that you have your head up your ass. Global temperatures have not been rising for quite some time now. Put down An Inconvenient Truth and look at the real data (not the projected, manipulated data). The warmest year on record was 1934. So if we have been going up since then, why wasn’t 2007 the warmest year on record? Weather and climate fluctuate. To claim that one fluctuation is a disaster of epic proportions is ignorance at its best.
Third, the economic and social harm is well documented. You have kids who are now suffering from “eco-phobia” or “eco-depression” where they can’t get passed all of the negative “we’re all going to die and it’s our fault” rhetoric. You have people having their ways of life slashed apart. That’s both social and economic damage. Gas prices, food prices, energy prices… All off the charts thanks to environmentalism and global warming buffoonery.
Need I go on?
And furthermore, please refrain from the insults. Talk trash about people all you want on your own blog, but I will not let that shit fly.

Revolting.
let me give you a perfect example of how these scare tactics effect us at home and the market abroad.
You say “what do we have to loose by starting preventative measures aginst global warming today?”
In 1978 Jimmy Carter scared the shit out of everyone by saying that all sources of oil would dry up by the year 1990 and that we had to start implementing by using celluloid based renewable fuels. In those days it was called “gasohol”
http://www.cato.org/pubs/pas/pa-241.html
“When OPEC restricted oil production again in 1978–and the Carter administration tightened oil and gasoline rationing, creating artificial panic–Andreas arrived at the White House with a salvation scheme. Why not increase subsidies for ethanol? According to Frank Greven, who is working on a book on Andreas and ADM, “During the 1978 Persian Gulf oil crisis, he convinced Carter that using ADM’s ethanol as a lead-free octane booster in gasoline would promote energy independence and cleaner air.”(39) As part of its grandiose solution to the energy crisis–which the president proclaimed to be the moral equivalent of war–the Carter administration drove through Congress a plan to exempt gasoline with 10 percent ethanol from the 4-cents-a-gallon federal fuel excise tax.
Even with the extremely generous federal tax credits for ethanol use, the alternative fuel still did not take off. Politicians decided that massively subsidizing ethanol’s use was not sufficient; they must also massively subsidize its production.”
Today we see the result of premature and pre-emptive over reactions to a problem that was not researched well enough in advance to its introduction.
Those results being astronomical food cost for everyone in the world and throwing the world food market completely out of balance.
All in the name of environmentalist in the 70s and 80s who were pushing the ethanol card as some kind of earth friendly fuel.
Most of todays environmentalist have backed away from supporting ethanol due to the fact that it is no more freindly to our atmosphere than ordinary fossil fuels.
With that mistake in mind and no way out of the contracted subsidies that corn farmers are guaranteed for years the focus has switced to energy independance as a justification for this offshoot bitch of the 70s environmental movement.
People are starving. And the average middle class American that has to buy groceries is now paying an average extra of 200.00 a month.
And ethanol is doing absolutly nothing to bring down the cost of a gallon of gas.
The difference adds up to well more than 3500.00 a year.
Do the math and then go ahead and say or ask these things again;
Revolting:
:You are just making shit up now. economic harm? social harm?
Revolting:
” I don’t see the harm in doing research and taking steps now to correct a possible looming problem.”
Right now my kid is seriously pissed because all this environmental crap has cut into his college fund and cramped our social outings/family outings due to the fact that WE JUST CANT FUCKIN AFFORD IT ANYMORE!
So you might want to back up on doubting it has effects on the avaerage Americans family.
As far as your big claim to the fact that the earth is getting warmer.
Big fucking deal !
No one has proved why!!! And the science is arguementative at best on both sides.

I understand what you are saying. The whole “the party has left me behind” thing is trully depressing, and I still haven’t fully gotten over it yet. I try to pretend John McCain isn’t the nominee as much as possible.
As for global warming, I have started another blog called “The Global Warming Truth Movement” just to deal with this subject. I haven’t announced it on my blog yet because I haven’t done much with it yet. It is pretty plain and so far I have just reposted some of my earlier posts there.
My idea with this blog is to recruit other “truthers” to also author there, if you are interested I will add you. I know you have been burned out lately and haven’t been writing much so if you arenot interested there will be no hard feelings. I know how time consuming and draining blogging can be sometimes. However, consider the offer open if you decide to jump back in.
This offer is open to anyone else who is interested also.
Here is the address:

I hope you don’t mind that I sort of promoted myself here.
Stay strong Ryan, we need you when you come back full time.

Ryan…
I am sorry you are not able to bring up any valid points but went with personal attacks and name calling.
First you were talking about last year and now 1934? I don’t care if it was so hot the world started on fire in 1934. Once again you don’t seem to understand the concept of LONG TERM climate changes and trends.
“Third, the economic and social harm is well documented. You have kids who are now suffering from “eco-phobia” or “eco-depression” where they can’t get passed all of the negative “we’re all going to die and it’s our fault” rhetoric.”
That was the funniest thing I have read in a while. Most teens since the beginning of time go thru the ‘world and I am doomed’ stage and it’s part of growing up. Please stop blaming environmentalists for social issues.
For the record, my ‘trash talking’ was not directed at you but at No Compromises. I have run across him before and he is nothing but a hate spewing and bigot of an idiot. I will shout him down anytime…
micky(2)…
I can’t believe you are talking about Jimmy Carter and blaming him. He was right that at sometime storage of oil will be a problem we should have started working on that in the 1970’s instead of doing nothing. You have to start on a solution before something becomes a real problem so you can try a number of things and see what works and what does not.
“Please read the links I supplied and educate yourself past the rumors of your moonbat buddies.”
I have done a lot of reading on the subject but thanks for your concern. Judging by your half-ass reasoning of the issue it would seem your eduction on this is incomplete.
I do agree ethanol is driving food prices up and I think it is crazy to grow food just to burn it in cars. Most environmentalists would agree that ethanol is only a small part of a total solution to the oil problem and not to mention there are better ways to produce ethanol that we are not utilizing. I find it funny you that you are critical of subsidies for ethanol production but had no mention of the subsidies handed out for oil production.
You also are right that ethanol has had no positive effect on gas prices but there is a simple reason for that. Ethanol is a very small piece of the pie compared to oil in gas consumption. You must be aware that oil is $145 barrel, yes? By far the biggest factor in gas prices is the fact that demand is exceeding supply which is simple economics in play here. This will not change any time soon because of the growing markets in China and India who make up almost 40% of the world’s population.
There are other factors effecting gas prices like price gouging by oil companies, lack of new domestic production and refinery issues but they all pale to the ever increasing demand for oil. The only long term solution is less consumption and exploring alternative energy sources. Worse, what we are getting from our leaders instead is inaction and tax holiday scams.
“Right now my kid is seriously pissed because all this environmental crap has cut into his college fund and cramped our social outings/family outings due to the fact that WE JUST CANT FUCKIN AFFORD IT ANYMORE!”
I hope your kid is not being taught that our economic problems and gas prices are because of ‘environmental crap’. That would be really sad….
I find it alarming that anyone who you can claim to be a right winger or conservative has to be against environmentalism and needs to bash anything or anyone that is trying to help the earth. Some serious brainwashing going on somewhere…
FYI, this will be my last reply on this thread since don’t have anymore time to waste but you all have fun.

Believe it.
He was wrong just like he is about almost everything. Just like you are in refering to storage when he said there would be nothing to store.
There was no need to scare our way into the ethanol market.
I used Carter as an example of what happens when things get imposed upon us by scare tactics.
And you very much made my point for me by saying “before something becomes a problem”
There is no evidence that a problem is immenent. In the 80s the intent was environmenmtal as much as it was alternative power sources.
And due to improvements in auto designs our air is actually cleaner today than it was in the 70s, no thanks to ethanol
Carter was the single largest driving force in the introduction of a fuel that is definatly cramping American lifestyles.
What would of worked was if Carter had a clue on foreign policy.
REV:
“I find it funny you that you are critical of subsidies for ethanol production but had no mention of the subsidies handed out for oil production.
That has little to do with how scare tactics are effecting American lives.
It seems like you are off somewhere else because my response to you was related to this statement.
“what do we have to loose by starting preventative measures aginst global warming today?”
I think I’ve made it abundanly clear how reacting to a bunch of shit can effect not only families, but the whole country.
Unless you dont eat food I dont see how you couldnt notice.
As far as” bashing the earth ” goes.
That is what you shmucks do.
Just because we wont buy your shit you come out and say we dont care about the earth.
That shows a level of guilt slinging that comes straight out of kindergarten.
Man, you went way off track bub. and you’re response is definatly half ass.
I am well educated on the oil market and the reasons we are paying so much.
You may of done alot of reading on the subject but you obviously had a hard time comprehending my response to you and what the subject matter was.
You asked a question and I answerd it with reliable resources.
The way you seem to think it appears we should all wrap ourselves in bubble wrap at birth.

I see at least a spot or two a week on the news here about how kids from one school or another are always on some environmental excursion. Or the senior high students who make news for their science fair, which is jam packed full of novice inventions that will combat global warming.
I hope these kids arent thinking they’re going to get one of those ” green jobs.”
I went and dropped my last comment to R Pawn over at his blog also.

He doesnt want too many people to see it as he keeps deleting and moderating my comments.
