Shut the hell up!

Seriously.

I don’t care if you want to “go green.” In fact, I encourage it. There’s nothing wrong with a little conservation here and there, and I certainly don’t advocate for pouring motor oil down the storm drain. Taking care of our home is a good thing.

But…

I don’t want to hear about it. In fact, I am going to go out on a limb here and draw an assumption that if you have to show off your “green credientials” or brag about how gree you are, you’re either a) not doing it at all, or b) only doing it because you think it makes you trendy and you really couldn’t care less about the environment.

I never thought that I would be out here defending legitimate “greenies,” but in general the people who are green because they care about the planet aren’t the ones out there rubbing everybody else’s nose in it and doing really, really stupid things. And once the government and political parties get into the fun, you know it’s nothing more than a show of “who can be more trendy with pop culture.”

I spent all morning on my way into work this morning listening the radio and all the talk of how the RNC and DNC conventions are working feverishly to out-green one another (as if there can be anything truly green about either convention short of NOT having them), and to be honest I had to hold back the nasty bile as it bubbled through my system. I mean, it’s nothing more than a game show to these folks!

As I said, the best advice I can give is to shut the hell up. I know it won’t be heeded because good plant stewardship is taking a distant back seat next to the drive to be hip and trendy right now, but that won’t change the fact that many of us (and by “us” I mean everyday people just trying to live their lives) are getting really sick and tired of this game.

Go green. By all means, live the greenest lifestyle you can! I don’t care what you do. Live in a mud hut and recycle your bathwater for all I care. Just don’t tell me about it. Don’t rub my nose in it. And most importantly, don’t use it in some sort of juvenile attempt to one-up me.

Is that too much to ask?

That’s exactly the conclusion I have come to after all the Green talking points. My employer, a health insurance company now has a webinar, Going Green. coming out in August. What?!I am sick of this Green propagandizing. I am very careful with my conservation activities but not to the extent of silliness and self-parody.

Reminds me of the tree-hugger episode of the Simpsons where enviro-nut Ed Begley Jr. was going to drive a scooter to the event powered on his “own sense of self-satisfaction”.

I could not agree more. I could’ve written that myself. It’s eco-vanity – and I’m sick and tired of it. Although I can’t remember ever telling anyone, I actually consider myself an environmentalist – but not in the contemporary sense of the word.

I’m also sick and tired of companies who flaunt their “greenness”. Don’t they realize that this preening actually drives some customers away. Not that those customers would “advocate for pouring motor oil down the storm drain”, but they are offended by companies trying to patronize them.

    What ever happened to humility?

I agree! I agree! Global warming baloney is also becoming very sickening. In what age are they comparing today’s weather to? I mean, hurricanes, tornadoes, raining and floods were always with us. The earth evolves and changes – this is nothing new. And, why do the advocates of global warming insist that a tsunami is a weather condition? I guess the last days of Pompei, the ice age and other phenomena were also the results of ‘global warming.’ Hidden causes and agendas, political ambitions, control, greed, conquests and just crazy political representatives and those working behind the scenes are truly a bunch of outright liars. I agree – they should all just shut the hell up!

    Yup.
I was in line last week at the recyclers with about 50,00 worth of aluminum cans.
    Some moonbat turned and looked at my stash and got all sappy and said;
” I see you’re doing your part for mother earth”

I looked at him and said:
Fuck that shit, I need the money.

Ok. Ok. I’m only recently guilty of a LITTLE of this. Just because of the fact that it has been for health reasons. I’ve found that I’m suddenly sensative to EVERYTHING and I have to reluctantly throw out all my old cleaners and old ideas of eating whatever the hell I wanted. But I don’t go on and on about it. Sometimes I feel attacked by people who are REALLY green and try to convert me completely. And I’m left like, ah geez, is it THAT serious?

Well anyway, I haven’t been over here in a long while. Life happened.
You changed up a bit. I need to catch up.

The carbon credits were part of the rental. It was just a jacked up name for a “user fee”. They refused to take it off the bill.
