If global warming fails…
There’s always something else to fall back in the attempt to disrupt the wheel of progress by attacking CO2 emissions. This time it’s “acid oceans.”
Acid oceans ‘need urgent action’
The world’s marine ecosystems risk being severely damaged by ocean acidification unless there are dramatic cuts in CO2 emissions, warn scientists.
Is there any end to this? Sadly, none in sight.
Doyle’s Wisconsin by the numbers
State government employees are up:
Doyle added 5000 state government jobs in 2008 alone. This despite his promise to reduce state government by 10,000 jobs.
Unemployment is up:
In the same time period Wisconsin’s private sector lost over 66,000 jobs. (32,400 jobs from Nov 07-Nov 08 plus 33,600 in December 08)
In December 2008 alone, the private sector in Wisconsin lost 33,600.
State Spending is up:
In the budget before Doyle took office, net GPR spending was $11.4 billion. By last budget it had spiked to $13.1 billion.
Poverty is up:
More children and families live in poverty since Doyle took office. Nearly 34,000 more children are living in poverty now than when Doyle took office. (page 7-8 in particular)
Structural deficit is up:
When Doyle took over, the structural deficit was $2.8 billion
According to his own administration, the number has climbed to $5.4 billion
Tuition is up:
Tuition is up 70% at the comprehensives, 73% At UW Madison, 75% at UWM and 58% at the UW Colleges – just since Doyle took office.
State Borrowing is up:
Total bonding in the budget before Doyle took power, was $738 million
By the 2005-07 Doyle budget total borrowing had climbed to $1.535 billion
Fraud is up:
After leading the nation for decades in welfare reform, under Doyle, we’ve gone back to the old days of rampant fraud, manipulation and abuse of the welfare system.
Doyle’s 2007-09 budget included:
Allowing jobless welfare recipients to refuse job training.
Free foods stamps for deadbeat parents refusing to pay child support.
The Doyle Administration’s tolerance for fraud in the state’s welfare program, Wisconsin Shares was exposed by the media this week. Two years ago, GOP legislators were calling for action on this – but Doyle did nothing.
Under Doyle’s watch, one family of 4 sisters have scammed more than half a million state taxpayer dollars in just two years, for caring for one another’s children.
State waste is up:
The Wisconsin State Audit Bureau identified concerns with six ongoing computer projects. The combined costs of these projects are estimated to be $122.7 million.
One additional high-risk project was suspended in February 2007, after five years of nearly fruitless work. Only one of six planned components has been implemented, at a cost of $23.6 million.
Up next: TAXES
Doyle has said everything is on the table as far as tax hikes including:
Gas Tax • Oil Tax • Sales Tax • Estate Tax • Hospital Tax • Cigarette Tax
from WIGOP
… And the good news just keeps on coming
I love it.
Weather Channel Founder Blasts Gore Over Global Warming Campaign
The founder of the Weather Channel is ridiculing Al Gore over his calls for action on global climate change, saying in a column that global warming is a “hoax” and “bad science.”
… “Global Warming. It is the hoax. It is bad science. It is a high jacking of public policy. It is no joke. It is the greatest scam in history,” Coleman wrote.
Al Gore: If there’s a bigger dickhead out there, I’d like to know
I’ve said it again and again. Follow the money. Read between the lines. Cut past the bullcrap and look at the truth of the matter where global warming is concerned. There is nothing benign or innocent about Al Gore and the global warming movement – and there is virtually nothing environmental about the cause. In fact, so far as I have seen, the only “green” in the global warming movement is money.
But now you don’t have to take my word for it. CEI is now saying it too… Here’s a quick commentary from CEI’s Director of Energy & Global Warming Policy:
“Former Vice President Al Gore has warned that we need to examine the financial interests of people in the global warming debate. Fair enough. What we discover in looking at the policies that Mr. Gore advocated in his Senate testimony is that they will make him and his friends extremely wealthy at the expense of consumers, who will be stuck with skyrocketing energy prices.”
Does it get any more clear cut than this? I don’t think so, but I’m sure that there are dedicated morons out there who would argue that we should ignore Al’s financial interests and listen to his “powerful” message. But it’s best to ignore them and keep your distance since it’s quite possible that their ignorance is contagious…
On a lighter note
This is great. Kudos to the folks who had enough of a sense of humor to pull this off

More questionable “stimuli”
As the legislators in Washington get ready to vote on the so-called “stimulus” package, I think it’s important to take a look at some of the finer points…
- $2.4 billion carbon capture products…
- $4.19 billion for ACORN and other bogus “community organizing” groups…
- $650 million digital tv conversion…
- $79 billion to bail out the state education system…
- $400 million global warming research…
- $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts…
- $200 million to refurbish the National Mall…
I fail to see how these stimuli will do anything other than gain brownie points for congresspeople and possibly stimulate Al Gore’s ego.
Winter weather may stall Gore’s global warming testimony
Saw this on drudge today… And got a huge laugh.
“I can’t imagine the Democrats would want to showcase Mr. Gore and his new findings on global warming as a winter storm rages outside…”
Of course, the braindead masses who believe in global warming will claim that winter weather is caused by global warming… But how many people with any amount of common sense really believe this crap any more?
Global warming advocates have suggested this year’s wild winter spells are proof of climate change.
Less than a week later, Obama is already going the wrong direction on “green”
While there are plenty of people who strongly diasgree with me on the environment, I largely laugh right in their faces since I find their blind loyalty to pop culture highly amusing.
However, I have to say that I am mighty irked by Obama’s willingness to jump into the big green kool aid…
Now, don’t get me wrong, I am all about being a good steward to our home; but I swear to god, I am sick and tired of hearing about “greenhouse gasses” and environmentalism. Damned if I don’t pine for the good old days when greenies were the weirdos who were nothing more than a nuisance to those of us who are actually productive in their lives. Now we have to listen to our very own president spew garbage about being green and slamming our lifestyles for not being green enough.
Fuck that. Fuck him. If he wants to live green and believe in global warming, so be it. But leave us the hell alone. This is not the business of government.
Is the angry guy a liberal?
You bet I am! But before you go and have a stroke over this stunning admission, let me first explain that I am taking the name back. Screw the gross collectivist bastardization of the term “liberal.” They are nothing of the sort, and as to how it is that they acquired the “liberal” namesake is something of a mystery to me.
So that’s right folks, I’m taking it back!
I have been doing a whole lot of reading lately, and started to take note of the term “classical liberal.” Since the historical names that I saw attached to this term were names that I generally associate with, I started to grow more and more interested in the concept of classical liberalism. So one thing led to another, and before I knew it I had shifted my title from conservative to classical liberal – a shocking change unless you stop to realize that conservatism is a child of classical liberalism.
By definition, classical liberalism is “a doctrine stressing the importance of human rationality, individual property rights, natural rights, constitutional limitations of government, the protection of civil liberties, an economic policy with heavy emphasis on free markets, and individual freedom from restraint.” Yep, sounds about right. It’s laissez-faire liberalism… Or in other words, Conservatism without morals and values that have no place is government.
So what’s the difference between the modern day lib and the classical liberal? Well, other than the obvious interest in the individual over the group, David Kelley of the Objectivist Center says that “classical liberals understood liberty to be a negative freedom–a freedom from the coercive actions of others. Modern liberals include positive freedoms in liberty, which are rights to the provision of goods.” Sounds good to me!
One of the most important, and fascinating aspects of classical liberalism is the idea that Fundamental Rights Do Not Come from Government. I guess we’ve kind of forgotten this, and the modern day liberals have really embraced a concept that is about as distant from this principle as it gets. Take, for example, FDR’s proposed second bill of rights:
- The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation.
- The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation.
- The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living.
- The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad.
- The right of every family to a decent home.
- The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health.
- The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident and unemployment.
- The right to a good education.
Are these things really rights? No way! These are nothing more than assurances from the government – something that really has nothing to do with rights. These “rights” also require obligations from others which defies the very principle of individual rights and errs frighteningly on the side of collectivist rights.
So why bring this up? Because over the course of my research I have found that the philosophy of classical liberalism is the antithesis of modern day collectivist liberalism – and as I stand smoldering over what the masses are becoming in America today – and worse yet what direction our government officials are trying to steer us down – I feel that I now must become the antithesis of modern day liberalism as well.
So I’m taking it back, damnit! The libs today don’t deserve the name “liberal” because there is nothing liberal about them.
And I dare you to argue this with me. As always, I invite you to bring it on…
2 days in and all is well?
What the hell is wrong with people these days? Can you really get a good idea as to if somebody is on track and meeting expectations as the president over the course of two days? And just what were those expectations? That life would go on in America despite the swearing in of Obama? If that’s the bar that has been set, then we’ve got bigger problems then any of us knew.
This is nuts. Sheer insanity. I knew Obamamania was out of control, but I honestly had no idea that things were this bad…
FOX News Poll: Obama Is Meeting Expectations
Most people think that President-elect Barack Obama is meeting — if not exceeding — expectations so far, according to a FOX News poll released Thursday.
