Wussy!

Dear Obama, I’ve been downsized. Thanks!

Dear Mr. Obama and Congress:

While I cannot hold you completely responsible for the current state of affairs, I will view you as the primary cause of a vast majority of the pain that we are currently experiencing in America.

Thanks to your lack of even the most fundamental understanding of economics and the job market in this country, you have taken a fragile situation and amplified it 10-fold, effectively turning a headache into a disaster of epic proportions.

Did you ever stop and think beyond the moment? Did any of you think to look past those special interest groups who you are so obviously beholden to?

The company that I work for is a high technology, cutting edge company. You remember those, don’t you? The type of place that you claimed we need more of in order to push America to the forefront of technology and industry… Oh, don’t bother making excuses – we were the kind of company that you claimed to support so feverishly.

Prior to your rise to power, we were thriving. A company of 60 or so employees, most of which were engineers and technical staff. We provided custom equipment worldwide to some of the top technology-based industries out there. We had even broken into the much-hyped solar power market and were prepping to begin designing for emerging technology markets that promised to revolutionize industries such as metal forging without the use of furnaces and water purifying without the use of heating. In fact, much of our portfolio consisted of industries and applications that a president and congress who claims to be interested in moving America forward would drool over. But it looks like you lied. Again.

Like many other industries, we were hurt by the current economic situation. Yet, we held out in the hopes that we could ride out the recession and come back even stronger once things picked up. However, we didn’t anticipate the death blow that would be dealt to us by the government – the very government that claimed to be working to help companies like ours. The “stimulus” package that was supposed to solve America’s woes left technology behind. What’s worse is that companies like mine were tossed aside in lieu of low technology make-work which is a slap in the face to those of us who had actually thought that we had leaders who were interested in moving America back into the technological lead.

While the money and resources are redirected from the private sector (you know, the sector that keeps companies like mine thriving and growing) and into the public sector for use in make-work projects and the funding of labor and construction unions, highly skilled technology workers are being dumped into an employment market that is looking more for asphalt workers than electrical engineers. Is this how we move America forward?

My company has reduced it’s staff to only 20 or so people now. We dumped all but one electrical engineer, all but two electrical engineering technicians, most of the support staff and assemblers…These are not unskilled workers, but it would seem that the stimulus package has done nothing but create jobs for unskilled labor – leaving the rest of us wondering what in the hell we are going to do to support our homes and families. This isn’t a matter of being “too good” to work unskilled labor jobs and take advantage of the government’s brilliant plan, this is a matter of not being able to find work that pays enough to live.

Was this the plan all along? Cut the throats of the middle class workers (the range of pay that our people made stretched from the low $40’s to $60’s) and force them into the same position of people who didn’t work their asses off to ensure that they were educated and could collect a paycheck that allowed for at least a modestly comfortable way of life? I don’t like to think that way, but it sure does look like that at first glance.

The only element of the government’s interfering actions in the economy that folks like us will be able to take advantage of is unemployment – and that isn’t such a great prospect to look at. We have worked too hard to become leaders in technology to be OK with suddenly being neutered and sent to the unemployment office through no fault of our own.

But what can we do? The latest actions of the government has created an overtly hostile environment for the small guy who isn’t part of the “stimulus plan.” All we can do now is hope that something else comes along and that the couple of dozen experienced engineers and engineering support staff that have just hit the market can all find something that will allow them to support their homes and families.

And what of the small company that was one of the cornerstones of a tiny community in rural Wisconsin? This loss will be felt in all corners as we no longer fan out for lunch during the week, use the local shop for oil changes after work or contribute to the community United Way campaign.

I sincerely hope that this is all worth it. I look forward to driving on new roads and beautified parkways – which I hope will be seen on my way to and from a new job and not to and from the unemployment office. But the situation is grim right now, and I’m not going to hold my breath for that.

So again, thank you so much for betraying us. Thank you for forgetting about the little technology company while you raced to stimulate your own pet projects. Thank you for so blatantly revealing to us what you really think of the skilled workers in America. You have really made me feel as if the work we have put into our careers was all for nothing.

Best Regards,

Just another laid off worker

Obama findS his true calling…

I heard somebody on the radio this morning claiming that Obama should be spending his time fixing the economy and not playing the bracket game… However, I would argue that point! By all means, play basketball and spend time going over your bracket predictions! If this sort of things takes him away from his other tasks, great! It’s better than watching him flounder like child in the deep end of the pool – which seems to be his current modus operandi.

But if you think Obama is a putz, then check out how the Minnesota legislature efficiently wastes time…

By working on ammending an existing bullying law to include 14 new protected classes of kids in school who cannot be bullied – or else! Yeah, not even teachers or school officials think this is necessary.

But this is is only slightly less asinine than the Minnesota governor and legilsature turning Sara Jane Olson’s parole issue into a partisan matter despite the fact that this isn’t even an issue for the lawmakers to address with any legitimacy. It’s all just partisan grandstanding. So while they can’t balance a budget worth a damn, it’s good to see they can still put on a good political show to detract from their ineptitude for a day or two.

Really, does it get any better than this?

Anybody want to argue against the cold reality?

The idiot left (all the way up the chain to Obama himself) keep denying it, but eventually reality will catch up and denial just won’t work any longer.

Here’s what CEI has to say, and honestly I can’t find any way to argue against this… But feel free to go ahead and try!

Political observers debate whether President Obama’s policies should be considered “socialist.”
CEI Expert Available to Comment: Editorial Director Ivan Osorio on the socialism that dare not speak its name:

“Call me a stickler for words, but policies that would nationalize entire industries — from airport screening to health care — or socialize risk — from corporate bailouts to subsidized insurance — are socialistic by any sensible definition. You don’t need to embrace an ideology in toto to move in the direction of its vision of society. Furthermore, you don’t need to define an ideology by its most vicious manifestation to recognize elements of it when they appear. There are other strands of socialism beside Soviet-style communism. Ultimately, [the] argument seems to rest on the notion that if you just don’t label something as ‘socialist,’ then it isn’t.”

A Clarification

Posted in Uncategorized by Ryan on the March 16, 2009

Ok, listen up all of you liberal dem screwheads, I’m going to break this down for you in terms even a chimp can understand (which means I still have some legitimate doubt about you guys understanding).

The world is not black or white. I’m not sure where you ever got the idea that everything is binary, but let me break the bad news to you slowly:

The world doesn’t work like that.

While I realize that you dems are primitively joined by your collective idiocy, once you venture outside of your own little cocoons of ignorance there is a great wide world of options that people choose from.

So why am I clarifying this now?

Simply put, I am tired of you narrow-minded boobs assuming that because I disagree with your pinko worldview I must be a Republican.

Since I have yet to figure out any rational reason for people to call me a Republican, then I must assume that dems are just so damned obtuse in their beliefs that they truely believe that the world is split into either Democrats or Republicans. As I said, binary thinking. Somehow the dems can’t put things into perspective well enough to understand that there may just be other options out there.

So to come full circle here, I am not a Republican. I have never laid claim to be a Republican. I have never voted republican and I doubt that I ever will short of a massive paradigm shift in the GOP.

You can consider me a libertarian, an anarcho-capitalist, an Objectivist – or more accurately you can consider me a Classical Liberal… But get one simple thing through your fat, collectivist skulls: I have no interest in and no allegience to the Republican party.

Got it?

Even FOX has gone soft

In response to the recent spate of global warming announcements on FOX and their happy little global warming website, I decided to let them know what I think of them. Will it make a difference? Probably not, but I am more than happy to let them know that they acting dumb…

Here is what I sent to them:

Is this a joke? Seriously. I am appalled and saddened that Newscorp, one of the last standing bastions of sanity in the steadily declining media world, has decided to jump on the bandwagon and destroy the remaining shreds of integrity in the media industry.

At a time when the media industry is quickly losing ground in the eyes of the general public, it surprises me that you have chosen to pursue this avenue rather than stay above the fray and maintain even a fractional amount of neutraility on an issue that is rapidly becoming a joke in the eyes of people who enjoy the fruits of basic common sense.

As I said, I am saddened that Newscorp has strayed in this manner and deeply disappointed that you have failed to show strength of character in these frustrating times. The public deserves better.

Feel like telling them off too? Go here and tell them what you think

How to cure cancer

In the wake of the asinine government in science debate, I got to wondering… How do we cure cancer?

And then it dawned on me. Curing cancer is a simple, 2-step process:

1) get rid of the nonprofits – especially the American Cancer Society and Susan G Komen

2) Shackle the government

So while you twitch around like fish over my audacity, let me pose a simple question: Do you honestly think that organizations that bring in as much money and weild as much power as these nonprofits do would willingly work towards their own demise, regardless of what they might claim?

The ACS employs many thousands of people and brings in money hand over fist. If cancer were cured, they would not have a purpose any longer. They wouldn’t collect their millions of dollars. They wouldn’t be a political powerhouse any longer. They would have thousands of people without jobs.

Do you really think that they would allow this to happen?

Hell no! They have a good thing going and they aren’t going to let that slip away by actually working towards a cure. Silly optimist, people really aren’t that good.

Imagine what could be accomplished if the ACS stopped spending time and money chasing around smoking bans and more time actually funding and supporting a real cure!

And then there’s that whole government thing. Not only are they more than happy to continue to throw money at the nonprofits, but they’re also more than tickled to use them as a tool to build bigger, badder government. And since the nonprofits operate on guilt and sympathy, they have an unquesitonable leg up when it comes to advocating for government bloat that the government by itself just doesn’t posses. So where’s the incentive for finding a cure for cancer where the government is concerned? Yeah, I don’t see it either.

Sad. Imagine what we could do if it weren’t for the people who claim to be working for the greater good. I guess something got mixed up along the way.

Barack “Showboat” Obama strikes again

Is anybody else getting tired of Obama’s sad and juvenile showboating? I mean, the guy could take the olympic gold for diverting the world’s attention away from the real issues by his shameless showboating over the little things that have really no interest, relevance or meaning to the rest of us. Today’s showboat d’jour is his lifting of the federal funding ban for stem cell research. While this is a good thing because it should never have been banned to begin with, it’s still pretty much irrelevant to our current state. Besides, why should the government be funneling money into stem cell research anyway? Aren’t there private companies and schools that do this sort of work? I guess it’s just another rathole for the federal government to toss money at and mismanage into uselessness.

Sadly I don’t know if he’s insulting our intelligence or simply playing into the child-like attention spans of the American Idol generation. Either way, he’s proving nothing more than his ability to get people excited over absolutely nothing. Swell. At least when his policies finally sink America he’ll be able to misdirect American’s interests by showboating another “Bush-era” repeal or police academy funding in Ohio…
