Interesting blog. Keep up the calling.
on September 4, 2007 on 9:49 am
Thanks a lot! Now that you posted your search engine stuff in my comments, I now have someone googling “women who claim their boss has spanked t!” That’s it…no idea where the “t” trail off to. I just had to tell you because I laughed my ass off.

I was looking around Google and ran across your website. Very impressive! I have recently built a website called NationalPlatforms.com that provides a single source for someone to see where all the 2008 presidential candidates stand on the issues. The information comes directly from the campaigns themselves and completely unbiased.
I believe your audience would find my site very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to read this email and I’d love to hear back from you.

New feature. Woo Hoo!
I have added the “FeedBlitz” option to the side bar (down in the “Tidbits” section). This will allow you to subscribe to this via email in a sort of newsletter form and will also allow me to communicate to subscribers via mass email.
Check it out. It’s cool!

You’d make a great fit with our gaggle of conservative bloggers at True North. Interested?

I have found a legal loophole in the Minnesota Freedom to Breathe Act that will allow any Minnesota bar to serve food and liquor to patrons AND allow them to smoke in the same indoor area. I would like to link up with a Minnesota Smokers Rights organization to (1) implement this loophole at a Minnesota bar (2) that is willing to be reported in the media. Please respond to my email address.

I’m putting you up on my site. You are just too awesome a writer not to link to.

I apologize for posting so much information on your smoking ban blog, it just happens to be one issue that rally “fires” me up. Keep up the good work and I will attempt to be more concise in the future.

Thanks for stopping by, Alaskancamel. Your information and posts are always welcome here! I’m always looking for people with more than just two-word arguments, so keep it up! Come back often, I’d enjoy your opinion on any topic here.

Love of cigars? Now that would be a fun blog. What are your thoughts on the Cuban embargo?
on December 28, 2007 on 5:37 pm
I’m not a big fan of the Cuban embargo. I think it has been nothing more than a show of force that failed to achieve anything useful. Since I not only love cigars, but have enjoyed my fair share of Cubans over the years, it pisses me off to no end that we continue to “teach those commies a lesson” and are denying people the enjoyment of a stout Cuban cigar.
Oh yeah, and I would love to take a vacation to Habana… Damned reds…
on December 28, 2007 on 9:53 pm
I have a love of cigars as well. So far, I have only found a few Cubans that I really enjoyed. It seems like most of them are reducing in quality (imagine that). My wife loves the smell of a cigar and I smoke them in the house (and no, she is not available). Of course the taxes are astrinomical here (150% of wholesale), but when I travel, I stock up. I think I am down to about 150 cigars….oops, getting low.
)
on December 30, 2007 on 8:39 am
I usually buy online. cigars international is about the best when it comes to prices and selection. I usually only buy at smoke shops when I feel like sitting back at the shop with the other customers and enjoying a fine cigar. I don’t mind paying the markup and insane taxes to be in good company, but I won’t pay that price for a box.
Oh, and my girlfriend smokes cigars along with me
on January 2, 2008 on 10:14 pm
Do you have a list of all of your posted blogs? (its probably right out in the open, but you know us smokers, were not very bright) I love the way you keep updating the front page, but some of the blogs I like to keep checking on and they keep moving. Thanks again for all of your hard work on this site. This is the only blog I continually check in on.
on January 4, 2008 on 7:10 am
Camel, I’ll see what I can do. I don’t have a list so to speak, and the sidebar is automatically updated based on daily traffic to different posts… I’ll see if I can create a page that lists everything though.
Thanks for the plug though! I’m glad you visit regularly. You’re a great addition to the group

Just finished “Capitalism, the unknown ideal”. Wow did that screw me up as you can probably tell in the change in ferocity of my postings. On a lighter note, I have a few college friends and know a few high school kids through my children…I have passed out 10 copies so far. Don’t know if that is good or bad. heh

It’s a great book, but I tell you, Atlas Shrugged is what really changed me. Hank Rearden is my hero.
Any promotion of Rand’s philosophy – especially to youth – is outstanding. I’ve been preaching Ayn Rad for years!
on January 5, 2008 on 3:29 pm
I have read Atlas Shrugged twice and The Fountainhead once. I am starting to expand out into her other works though. The think that really hit my in “Capatilism” is that it is all history and facts. Atlas Shrugged was a great story that made me think and changed my views on many things, but Capatilism really hit home. Maybe it just hit so hard because it is election season. ( side note, I love how she destroys Romney Sr. in that book…makes you think)
on January 6, 2008 on 8:22 am
That is true, “Capitalism” is an outstanding book and should be a must read for anybody who’s at all serious about capitalism and freedom. I would dare to say it should be a required reading for schools, but I know that would never, ever happen since it really flies in the face of most of what school preach these days.

If that’s who you’re referring to, then you’re right, she is a space cadet.

Oh silly me. I got confused.
on January 11, 2008 on 7:40 am
Spawn, I think I came up with a solution to your problem… I can’t get wordpress to generate a full list of my posts… SO, I actually happened across CoComment while trying to solve your dilemma of keeping up with posts you comment on. If you install CoComment, it keeps track of all of your comments for you and lets you easily get back to any of them without having to search for them. It’s easy to use, too, since it just acts like a browser extension and automatically integrates into the comments section when you go to a post… Something to consider anyway.

Ryan,
Call for help. I am doing an assignment on “the roll of government, business, and the consumer in environmental protection”. I know my thoughts, but was wondering if you knew of any good sites I could cite to back up my opinion that government should stay the hell out of it, business should protect the bottom line, and the consumer has no impact on the environment so they have no roll. Its going to be an interesting class.
Side note, sorry I havent been writing much. I have been traveling and I also just found out I am going to be a dad again…so life is a little crazy.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Jim

Considering your stand on the Anti-tobacco legislation I thought you would be interested in this link
http://www.bobbarr2008.com/press/press-releases/15/bob-barr-criticizes-proposals-to-expand-fda-regulation-to-tobacco/
It is a press release from Bob Barr, the Libertarian nominee for president. I have been reading on his website and overall I like what I am seeing. I was wondering if you had heard of him yet and had any opinions on his policies.

Thanks Beth! That’s great news. I’m a huge Bob Barr fan, and that really sealed the deal. I have already contacted his campaign and asked for an opportunity to speak with him about this…

You are a raging psychopath. And the way you describe yourself is clearly a republican. You believe the biggest kid on the playground should be able to kick the crap out of anyone they want with no interference from the teacher. Laizzes faire economics is most closely related politically to facism. Which by definition means pure top down control, which is how corporations operate. You are a facist.
on May 7, 2009 on 11:27 am
Wow, some real wisdom from the peanut gallery…
First off, explain how I sound like a Republican. I would love to know what you think a Republican is and why you think I sound like one.
Second, the kid on the playground will never learn to stand on his own if there is always somebody there to coddle him and protect him from the big, bad world. I assume you are comfortable in your sheltered little world, but it has made you a feeble moron.
Third, what the hell school of economics did you go to? Laizzes Faire economics is the polar opposite of fascism considering it is a rejection of government control while fascism is total government control from behiond the scenes (socialism is overt government control). You are, I assume, making the claim that allowing free markets to govern the market is a greater fascist threat than allowing idiot government bureaucrats who know nothing about economics to control the economy to fullfill their own sick needs.
I find it amusing that you come here and call me names and accuse me of being a fascist (something you clearly know nothing about), but you present nothing of any substatial interest. Where’s your argument? Where’s your theory? Where’s you’re arsenal of evidence to support your name calling and accusations? You, Jesse, are a fucking moron who has either suffered at the hands of a piss-poor public education system or somebody who thinks that they are far smarter than they really are and has no qualms about making themselves look foolish so long as they get their opinion out. Either way, you can just crawl back to your happy playground and hide under the nanny’s skirt.
on May 7, 2009 on 8:35 pm
Jesse
You really should put down that crack pipe.
“Laizzes faire economics is most closely related politically to facism.”?
If you are going to talk politics you really should get your terminology correct.
Try cracking open a history book the NAZI’s were Statists. Hell their name says it all. National Socialist German Workers’ Party. Laissez-faire The term is often used to refer to various economic philosophies and political philosophies which seek to minimize or eliminate government intervention in most or all aspects of society. Fascism is a totalitarian form of government where the government controls everything. This is not my blog but you morons that can’t even get your terminology correct really piss me off. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statism
on May 8, 2009 on 2:15 pm
The philosophy behind any fascist government is one of complete top down control, with no outside intervention. This of course can be applied to governments through out history, or the philosophy can be applied to other non democratic institutions, such as corporations that exist with in a laizzes faire economic system. Facism is a totalitarian form of government, but the philosophy behind it roots it self in the origins of laizzes faire economics. In between hits of my crack pipe, I have opened many history books and taken many courses on this subject matter, something the two of you clearly haven’t. My previous comment was on the blog owners “about me” section.
Taxes are the price you pay for living in a civilized society. This is overused I agree, however the sentiment is accurate. If you want to live in a society that has all the things we enjoy than you must pay to live in it. Taxes aren’t “owing anybody” anything. That’s not what paying taxes is. If you would prefer to live some where were all that taxes for are those few things, than by all means there are many countries in the global south where you could do just that. You probably won’t live past 50, due to the water and air being toxic and people living in such poverty due to a lack of government support that they will shoot you for your shoes, but go nuts.
on May 8, 2009 on 2:31 pm
Your sad atteempt to draw relations between fascism and laissez faire economics is interesting, but comical at best. I’m not entirely sure how it is that you have come to the bizzarre conclusion that free market economics is top down control. In a truly free market (near anarcho-capitalist) there is no control from the top because the people (consumers) ensure that no entity becomes too powerful or controlling. As far as I can tell, this is quite the opposite of what you’re claiming. So, while your meaningless opinion is ammusing, you haven’t yet actually presented anything of any substantial value to back up your statement.
And how in the hell did we end up talking about taxes? Damn your obtuse. Not one person here (including me) advocates for no taxes. I’m not sure how you got that idea jammed into your skull, but you best dump it. Funny thing is that you list off a few of the things that we actually do believe are legitimate government functions. As such, these are some of the few things that tax dollars should be used for. My (our) gripe is that about 99% of our taxes get thrown away on things that are not legitimate government functions. In fact, if we weren’t flushing billions away on bailouts, sick social programs etc, then we actually would have the resources to have a phenomenal water program, great roads and bridges etc. As it is right now, the way our tax dollars are spent is absolutely asinine and pure evidence of a government out of control. If you seem to think that this is perfectly acceptable and continue to think that my idea of limiting government expenditures (and thereby taxes) to its legitimate functions is somehow a bad thing, then you have far greater problems than I intially thought.
Regarding your pithy little reference to my claim of not owing anybody a thing, you are clearly mixed up in your thinking. I don’t owe anybody a goddamn thing. I will gladly pay taxes for the necessary services needed to keep this country operating and safe, however it ends there. But the fact that even one red cent of my tax dollars goes into the pocket of somebody else who is somehow more deserving of it than I am does nothing but piss me off – hence, I don’t owe them a thing. But hey, I guess if we listen to bleeding heart fuck-o’s out there, those of us who aren’t up to our eyes in shit owe something to the people who are. But ya know what? Screw that. It’s not the job of the government or any other person to tell me I am somehow less deserving of the fruits of my labor than another. If I choose to be charitable, then I will do so out of the goodness of my heart.

Well I said it and you did not disappoint me, You did indeed sleep through both science and civics. Were you awake for any of your lessons. You told me on my blog about the indisputable evidence backing a smoking ban and now your here spouting this bullshit. As I pointed out before Laissez-faire The term is often used to refer to various economic philosophies and political philosophies which seek to minimize or eliminate government intervention in most or all aspects of society.
Being a hard core Libertarian that is the doctrine that I subscribe to. How you can equate that to control from the top down is beyond me. It is minimum control not total control. When I started working every job had health care, I started out as a car hop at a drive in restaurant and I had medical insurance. Then came along Johnson’s great society creating the welfare system. Of course they did not want to pay full retail so they set limits that they were willing to pay for each procedure. Well guess what that got passed on to the paying customers and the insurance companies and now we have a health crisis. I am not a big fan of Bush but you knee jerk liberals want to blame everything on him. He warned of this financial crisis his first year in office and he wanted government intervention then.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMnSp4qEXNM&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fveritasvincitprolibertate.wordpress.com%2Fpage%2F2%2F&feature=player_embedded
So you see more often then not the government is the problem not the cure. So again put down that crack pipe. Go back and take civics and science again only this time Stay awake!!!!!!!!
